    New Cyclamatic

And not forgetting that as the market gets bigger and more mature, the regulators will increasingly want to control it, making it harder for smaller manufacturers to maintain their foothold. Sent from my SGP311 using Tapatalk

Sherlock - Anti-theft gps tracker with gsm for bikes

Back of the fag packet calculation: the current crop of high end mobiles have about 3000mAh batterries and run at 4.2 volts. This gives 12.6 watt-hours, on which they'll run for perhaps 2 days, or about 6.3Wh per day. Assuming no losses in the 36 to 5 volt conversion, this would give you about...

Sherlock - Anti-theft gps tracker with gsm for bikes

The professional theives who know what they want will get it regardless of how much security there is. Even high end cars get nicked, quickly put into shipping containers to stop the trackers working, and then stripped. With the "average" bike, where the scrote just wants something to sell...

Sherlock - Anti-theft gps tracker with gsm for bikes

Problem is, most bikes are made of metal; trackers are generally radio-based and won't work inside metal tubes. Hiding tracker inside a plastic battery case might work, but in any case if it's GSM based, there's going to be a significant connectivity cost. Sent from my SGP311 using Tapatalk

Sherlock - Anti-theft gps tracker with gsm for bikes

Sorry, but it don't work like that on movable items. Unlike on a house, the villain will take the bike and remove the tracker if it's obvious, consigning it to the nearest bin, river, drain, or wherever. Make the lock obvious and tough looking, but hide the recovery aid. Sent from my SGP311...

    Hydrogen Powered bikes

Agreed, but it's going to make nonsense of the current divisions between EAPCs, electric scooters, and proper full-blown electric motorcycles such as the Zero. I suspect that the pressures to only allow EAPCs that are formally type-approved will become unavoidable (although without any form of...

    Hydrogen Powered bikes

Might be a bit of a challenge to the interpreters of the law. There's an implicit assumption in the regulations that an EAPC will be powered by electrically rechargeable batteries of some sort. The hydrogen technology is more akin to refilling with petrol. Don't suppose anyone thought of...

Android App for HL battery pack

A little while ago I downloaded an app for the HL battery from the Woosh website - I found it quite useful as it connects to the battery via bluetooth and gives the voltage of each cell so I can see what's going on. I've just changed my phone and want to install the app again, but Woosh have...

    Joining batteries together ?

Just to clarify ( not knowing how much you know about electrics), you need to arrange the switching so that only one battery can every be connected at a time. This means that you need to remove the wire between the existing battery and the controller, and re-route it via the switch. You'd need a...

    Joining batteries together ?

If you're prepared to dig into the electronics, it might be possible to interrupt the wire that goes from the "2 prong socket" to the controller circuit and re-route it via a changeover switch so that you could bring the second battery into play when the first one goes flat.

    Joining batteries together ?

I wouldn't recommend that. The circuitry behind the xlr connector is expecting to see a charger, not a battery. At best it won't work; at worst you could end up killing either or both of the batteries and perhaps setting fire to something. Sent from my SGP311 using Tapatalk

Wireless Gear Shift and Brakes on eBikes?

Not convinced by the need for a 14 speed IGH for an e-bike. I'm running a 6 speed and I have far more gears than I need. Some on here have argued that 3 speeds are quite adequate. And that's before you start to consider the price!

    BBS01 or BPM or SWXK2

Not quite the setup you're asking about, but I'm running a Shimano Nexus 7 speed IGH with a GSM crank drive motor. It works fine; the only problem is that the gearbox is sometimes reluctant to change gear under load, and because I have a cadence rather than a torque sensor, I sometimes have to...

    specialized levo turbo

It looks like it might be a self-extracting crank, with a flange on the screw that bears on the plate with the hex hole in it as you undo the screw. I'd try undoing the hex screw and see what happens. If it gets tight after a few turns, it's probably because it's starting to act as a puller...

Any thoughts about brompton nano conversion.

Fair comment, but over £100 to post a wheel seems just plain ridiculous.

Any thoughts about brompton nano conversion.

Hmm - DIY looks an interesting alternative. I did look at the Q85 on BMSbattery.com, but the postage is more than the motor. Think I'll look harder - any other suppliers worth a look?

Any thoughts about brompton nano conversion.

Nah - just had a look & it wouldn't work. The motor would probably fit, but then the bike wouldn't fold, which rather defeats the whole idea of the brompton. Mike
