I have ridden mine 434 miles so far and having swapped out the brake calipers for hydraulic cable operated ones ( as researched and detailed by Saneagle) I have no complaints at all about it - albeit that it is not a speed machine having only 8 amps @ 36 volts max power input to the motor. This...

You know what you are doing, and are very generous with you time to help others know too. I sort of know what I'm doing (be it building a PC or installing a conversion kit (***)). However, I do know that many people are very far from being brave enough to do any of this (even though capable)...

    Yose wiring harness

I volunteer at a charity recycling donated bikes which are fully serviced for resale. A few ebikes are donated which usually have dead batteries, no key etc so end up going for scrap afted stripping any usable non E parts. All of the bikes have been purpose built as Ebikes and with batteries...

Yose conversion kit, help needed please.

It is an integral sensor as in your picture, and I can see it is turning correctly. I have been watching several you tube features which seem to suggest the odometer display comes from magnets in the motor hub itself rather than the pas sensor. Maybe I need to be investigating there. From my...

Yose conversion kit, help needed please.

If an all in one sensor And your bikes crank axle is a shade wider in diameter than the expected 17mm the sensor can 'catch' and turn until the cable is pulled taught, this can result in a very inconsistent motor engagement.. (the problem i had.. if a 2 piece with a separate magnet disk...

Bosch cx gen 2 motor making vibrating screeching noise

The mode of failure goes something like this: Thr crank seal wears and let's in a bit of water. The water gets into the bearing and damages it. The excessive play in the bearing damages the seal further and let's more water into the motor. From there the water can get into the electronics or the...

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

36v would help a lot. All the 24v controllers I tried at 36v worked OK, but I can't guarantee that it won't blow. If you want to be more sure, open the controller and look at the big capacitor in it. If it has a voltage rating over 42v, it should be OK, most are 53v or more. That's the thing...

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

Eventually got the new (Brainpower) controller shoehorned into this very old Giant Twist Express. Fitted a PAS to the crank, as the torque sensor on the rear dropout needs a bit of voltage shifting/remapping to work with the throttle input, and I can't be bothered to do anything until such time...

    First time buyer

To be legal, the motor needs to be marked as rated at 250w by the manufacturer. If it has that marking, it's legal. There is no law about how much power it can make, nor how much power you can push it to. It's output power that determines how well a motor drags you up hills. The more power you...

Which motor will get me up hills easily?

The way "power" impacts on hill climbing is the speed you get up them, the work in climbing is achieved by the "torque" developed at the rear wheel. It does typically follow that the more power available tends to also come with higher torque, but as said in respect to climbing it is torque that...

    Red LED on speed sensor?

I have a BBS01 crank motor with a flashing speed sensor on the back wheel. The LED only lights when the magnet on the spoke passes the sensor and then it goes off until the next revolution when it flashes again. That is the expected behaviour I think.

    e-bike operating problems

The speed sensor would be inside the motor if you have one. That's the one you can replace by a wheel magnet type. the sensor on the crank is the pedal sensor. You might want to have a look on the wheel or chainstay to make sure you don't already have a wheel magnet one, where the magnet's been...

TSZD2B clutch failure. Any tips on replacement?

The gear is scheduled to arrive at end of the month. I tried cleaning the old gear. It was easy to remove by hand. No puller needed, Remove pedal and crank gear. Motor cover held by four small screws. Remove circlips (I had a tool), The big gear lifts off. The gear has two clutch bearings in...
