Which e-bike best for a 19 stone man?

Thanks Saneagle, I built the Way farer for larcher chaps and chapesses! I was 21 stones at that time and it was designed with me in mind. It's very strong albeit a little heavieer than the average ebike and at £1599.00 a great buy. All the best, David

Cyclotricity Stealth Chainring and crank arms suggestions?

sweet, Ill leave the chain for now and if need be take it into the evans cycles by my work and ask them to swap the chain for a more robust one in the future. Ill just stick to replacing the crank and chainring then.

Cyclotricity Stealth Chainring and crank arms suggestions?

A quick search suggests this is a hub motor, so crank should just be standard bike components, so just needs a normal crank arm puller. Remove the dust cover, use a standard socket of the right size to undo the bolt, then screw in the puller and off the crank will come. Your chain will be...

TSZD2B clutch failure. Any tips on replacement?

My wife said her TSDZ2B pedals were slipping intermittently. I tried turning the pedal by hand. Sure enough, it's slipping and I can spin the pedals freely by hand w/o the chain/crank moving. What a POS motor. That's a clutch fail. I watched the Tong Sheng video. Guess I need to rig a crank...

kirbe 48v 1000w kit - is it for my mtb?

Appreciate your candor, saneagle. I was going to install the battery on a pannier rack (attached to seat post) but before I start the conversion wanted an honest opinion. I originally bought this for my tandem then got worried about the legality in retrospect and thought instead of sending it...

kirbe 48v 1000w kit - is it for my mtb?

First thing: If your bike has rim brakes, forget it and get a bike with disc brakes that can be upgraded to hydraulic. Those motors are only efficient at constant high speed. Your 16 AH is going to to give you 16 amps for an hour, so if you're running with 30 or 40 amps, it's half an hour...

Converting a tandem with 500w Bufang Rear Hub Motor - powerful enough?

Grin ebikes.ca has a good deal of info including a motor simulator you can use to compare different motors.. And while very few people have reported ever being stopped by police on an ebike, That could change. But more importantly if in the case of an RTA a 500w motor comes to light on your...

Which e-bike best for a 19 stone man?

I think the Wisper Wayfarer might be a good solution. You should be able to find a dealer somewhere not too far away from where you live. They have two versions. One with a crank-drive motor and one with a wheel-drive motor. You should try one of each to see which you prefer. Those bikes run at...

    Technical Question

One difference is that, at least on some controllers, the start threshold is set to a certain number of pulses -- say 6 pulses which in case of 12 magnet disc is 1/2 rotation, but 6 magnet disc would take a full rotation of the crank. That is, how quickly the motor engages when you start...

Woosh kit on a btwin tilt900

Thanks so much for taking the time to write that out! I'm glad you're happy with it, I'm in a similar boat I often cycle into London and there's one hill in particular that I'm sure is going to make my knees fall off if I don't do something! I'm going to look further into this but mounting it...

    Home made pedelec

None of that is relevant when you fit a crank motor because you chuck all those things. The only things that matter are the length and inner diameter of the tube. The BBS01 shaft diameter is the same as any other at 33.5 mm diameter. 68mm long is standard.

Woosh kit on a btwin tilt900

Hi Patrick, I spoke with Andy at Woosh and got the 20" rear hub motor hit with the 13AH downtube battery in a custom package. I went for this as I wanted to mount the battery on a rack above the rear wheel. The rack is the official decathlon 20" folding bike rack. Things to be aware of: The...

Benelli e-misano project. Will need help :-)

I don't think that's the original controller. It needs an LCD to work, and so that you can set it up correctly. You need a KT LCD, not any one. I'd recommend LCD3, 5, or 8, definitely not LCD1. Most modern motors have the speed sensor in them. You will only know when you get it working. You...

Benelli e-misano project. Will need help :-)

Hi. For some reason this hasn't appeared on the 'introduce yourself' thread, so here it is again :-) (Mods, please delete the original - thank you). I wasn't looking for an e-bike, but came across this Benelli being sold locally, and was taken by its looks. I'm very familiar with doing up...

    Hello

Ha, just realised im answering you in 2 threads.. Ebikes are very modular, there is the bike, the motor, the battery and the control system thats it. there are 2 options when it comes to motors, Hub/wheel drives, or mid drives, hub motors are literally fitted into replacement wheels, mid...

Benelli e-misano project. Will need help :-)

Hi everyone. I wasn't looking for an e-bike, but came across this Benelli being sold locally, and was taken by its looks. I'm very familiar with doing up regular bikes, and also happy with electrics, but there's a lot I don't know about these fellows. I've obviously been researching, but I have...

    BBS motor with Gates belt...

Six months and 1100 miles and the Sturmy 3 speed is still performing perfectly. I can also say that single speed chains are a lot more durable than 7 speed.

PAS fixed to gates rear sprocket?

I am thinking of getting a bike with a pinion gearbox but want to fit a rear hub motor so I need to fit a PAS. I have bad knees so really don't want a torque sensor. I have been very happy with Xiongda 2 speed motor which I have had on a total of three bikes, doing the conversions myself, and...
