    powerbyke x24 mk1

Still worth checking it's functioning properly though. It's a waste of time testing electrical components, without ensuring the battery is tip top.

    powerbyke x24 mk1

If you are comfortable with using a volt-meter, you could check the battery is supplying full voltage. If that's fine, then there's some checks you can do on the controller. I'm at work at mo, so no access to my laptop which has info on it, but I'm sure d8veh can help out here.

    powerbyke x24 mk1

Is there any sign of life with the wheel off the ground, unloaded?

If the bike has brake cut-off switches, check to see if one or both aren't sticking shut.

    Single Chain Ring

Is there a reason why you want to reduce it to only one chain ring i.e. aesthetics and/or less clutter on the handlebars?

    Heat Shrink

Whoever invented heat shrink, I want to shake their hand. Top stuff :)

I bought one of those kits a few years ago. Still got plenty left and there's lots of handy sizes in there.

Recommend me a new front light

I've just treated myself to a Moon Meteor-X Auto Pro: http://www.moon-sport.com/product-detail.php?id=210 Things I like about it. Very compact Rechargeable Battery lasts ages, even on high power mode Mount stays on bike, so just clip light on when needed Light doesn't shift around on rough...

OMG, my avatar mysteriously changed. How on earth and why did that happen

Awww, that's a shame, I can only afford a packet of Haribo and a split inner tube I have knocking around the shed.

You're right about the eScent though Eddie. Only shows up on the small drop-down menu at the top of the page. Consumers wouldn't even know it existed if looking elsewhere on the main page.

On the contrary, I've got the perfect commuter route. 14 miles round trip, with a smattering of rolling climbs. I'm willing to ride in any weather to provide a truthful and honest account of the bike, good or bad ;) P.s. I think you'd rather test that eScent though :p

I like the look of that one. It does show a price that is faded out grey of £1695.

I don't think Nick's done too bad though. Mostly positive comments so far. I'm sure the bikes have been test ridden by the laboratory boffins for countless hours, but a real world test by a couple of established members, could offer some insight into any shortcomings or future tweaks.

    Hope for LiPo?

But what price is the safety of a family or house. I've thought about the benefits of LiPo on many occasions, but the fire issue always puts me off. As Woosh says, 18650's are all that's needed on legal bikes. If more current is required, then Samsung 30Q's will be more than enough. Heavier and...

Ha ha, great minds think alike. I nearly posted my observation, but thought it might scupper my, I mean, our chances of a free bike :D

    Chain slip

Same as mine. I use a KMC with the EcoProteQ coating: http://kmcchain.us/chain/x8ept-eco-proteq/ A little pricey, but they are really robust, quiet, and shift well, so definitely worth it.
