Electric bike conversion kits - more advice please re drag, noise, robustness, etc.

Would it not be better though to just remove the additional weight and say pedal the extra 20% needed without electrical assistance and not have to worry about drag at all?

    Electric bike styling

But these things need to be styled to sell. If everyone brought into things that are just practical we would live in a very boring and dull world without any outlet to create our own personality. Thats why design is just as important as how well a car performs. Alfa have been doing it for...

Electric bike conversion kits - more advice please re drag, noise, robustness, etc.

Not sure why I keep reading this thread its like going round in circles. If you buy an electric bike chances are you are going to use the electric. Most journeys unless touring are under the max range of most journeys so even if there is drag it shouldn't be a issue.

    Electric-assist bike weight

Most bikes are around 10 to 14 kilo's. Add a typical ebike kit or an off the shelf ebike is +7kilo's. Its more effective to put yourself on a diet than shave precious grams off a bike.

    Electric bike styling

I don't think many people use Ferrari's to commute in really... Anyway I love the look of the single speed bikes, basic triangle shapes with accents of colour. However I also have my Marin work commuter which in my eyes has alot to be desired but it is functional. If not a bit dorky.

Here is my experience with BMS Battery

I'm going to defend BMS battery a little here. There's no many place's cheaper you can buy those kit parts. Yes there in a language barrier and they are defiently not proactive. Espcially to oversea's customers. However they try there best and often will upgrade parts for no extra cost should...

How true and centered are BMS Battery wheels?

Mine was very true but not nearly tight enough. I have since rebuilt the wheel and trued to a correct stength to take the additional weight over the rear wheel and me. Most the spokes ended up becoming loose unfortuantly. But I can let thme off. It was jsut someonthing extra for me to learn...

    marathon plus tyres

I've never had a problem removing mine or re-installing without any more than using my fingers and sometimes a flat blade screw driver carefully. But my wheel and possibly tolerances have stretched the tires a little bit so its easier... Must be luck of the draw on the tires. However never had...

    More Pedelec Journeys..

I think your less annoyed on an ebike when people do step out infront of you. It doesn't take much effort to get back up to speed again and becasue cycles make no noise its very easy for pedestrians to forget your even there!

    Where is "Off road" ?

When I used to do off road motorbiking It was very difficult to find private land you can use for off road purposes. In the end i opted for a load legal off road bike and went green laneing. This still meant conforming to the regulations set by law on bridal footpaths etc...

i'm seeing loads of electric bikes now!

It would be interesting to see some industry figures on sales vs Last year on units to see if the market is demanding more. The fact they ran out of stock could be to poor planning. We have also had a very mild april and the weather is picking up again this week. All these will contribute to...

i'm seeing loads of electric bikes now!

Your defiently verging on the side of stalker. Espcially with the camera's... On another note - I've seen one. As I leave birmingham and commute out I see lots of other bikes flowing in with the traffic towards birmingham. None really going in the same direction. However mostly work...

    Advise needed please

A code 8 has a mental top speed with almost 400rpm @ 36v. But its really on flat speed. You'd need to travel up hills at 15mph in order to keep it in its sweet spt for best torque. If your in norfolk and its flat go for it. Otherwise I'd suggest a different wind. Maybe a 10 or 11 @ 36v. The...

    Bafang question

They would be rpm speed at the nominal voltage or rated power for that given motor. You start monkeying about with the voltages and the rpm no load speed changes. You have to really take No load speeds as there are so many other varibles to consider when on the road. You should generally...

    What do you wear?

I think you need to see a Doctor, or the good people at the guininess world records... I wear MTB muddy fox shorts, cheap Puma sports t-shirts, Cycling shoes with some ankle sports socks and a regatta all weather out door coat. Although with the weather being as it is I may look into...

What size frame is it? I guess being an XL it will be a 21inch Frame? I'd like to get a super light bike or even a fixie at the moment to play around with while in the city...
