Li-pol + Nimh Battery For Forza.

I carried a spare battery in my pannier on my ride to work this morning! It doesn't have any noticeable impact on stability. I'd recommend it in preference to bungee straps as there is less risk of it falling off. A good rack bag may also work but can't speak from experience. Frank

The Electric Bike Industry-Boom or Bust?

That's interesting, Jim. You obviously see a lot of bikes so can get the big picture. Regarding Musicbooks' original question, I think its clear from these responses and other comments in this forum that the 50 Cycles guys deliver high levels of service. However, in my opinion, the business...

    Hello! ..and what to select

New Torq on 50 Cycles website I've been on holiday for a couple of weeks and have not yet caught up with everything, so forgive me if this is old news, but I happened to look at the 50 Cycles site to see if the new Torq Trekking was out yet - and it is. I have to say I was a little...

    Bikes for Big Blokes

Good point Ian The Powabyke motor doesn't operate until you reach c.2mph, so you can use this technique but it is not as simple as with other bikes. For example my wife's Powacycle, on which you can use the throttle from stationary. If you were relying on that technique, an Ezee or...

Thanks David for your reply and extremely detailed information, and congratulations on the police order. Congratulations also on putting together an excellent line-up, from the competitively priced entry model up. Seeing as you ask what we think, what I would most like for Christmas would be...

David, Thanks for clarifying, and for the update on Wisper and its rapid expansion. I remembered you having explained the relationship between WEVCO and your contract manufacturer in a previous satement, but I feel I ought to point out to you that, as a potential customer, the 'made in...

    Bikes for Big Blokes

Mil, You should think about a Powabyke. They may not be the most elegant or refined machines around but they are very solid, powerful, reasonably priced and certainly can climb hills. Don't buy one without trying though as the battery position (effectively where the crossbar would be) means...

Ezee Liv or Windsor LPX Lipol

KidBriar, I hope you are happy with your Powacycle Flecc, I think a better way to think of it is that the Powacycle is a pedelec, rather than an e-bike. However it also has a throttle boost, which you can enable via the switch. As such there is no throttle-only mode. When I ride my...

    Homemade *bright* LED light setup

Haku, Your light set-up looks really good; I'd like to have something similar myself! Have you connected it to your bike's battery, or have you gone for a separate battery box? If the former, how did you do it? Regards, Frank

    PowaCycle Power Switch

I can confirm that there is no fault - that is how the switch works! I think Flecc has hit the nail on the head - to enable the switch to control whether the power is on or off altogether you would need either heavy duty wiring or more sophisticated electronics. The PowaCycle is made to a...

    Powabyke Commuter Forks

That is defintely the right advice, Flecc! I did test drive a Torq and didn't particularly note a rough handlebar experience, even on the cobbled mews where Tim from 50 cycles has his base, but it was the first electric bike I had ridden so probably couldn't see past 'Wow this is amazing!'...

    Powabyke Commuter Forks

Is a Torq really worse than a Powabyke? With the non-appearance of the Wisper SE, I was just coming back round to the idea of getting a Torq in November. However, if it really is that bad, I'll dismiss it! The Powabyke is obviously fine on smooth roads, but it is bad enough that I change...

    Powabyke Commuter Forks

You do actually get a fair hammering through the handlebars on a steel/lead acid Powabyke. My wife rode it down a towpath (ie untarred) and compared it to operating a pneumatic drill! Frank

    Powabyke Commuter Forks

Agreed! I think Powacycle is getting most of it right. They are quietly building up a network, however I feel they are short-sighted in trying to sell direct from their web site and not providing a list of dealers. I would imagine that does not endear them to their dealers as much as the...

Lafree Twist Battery not Charging Fully

I agree, the denial of the problem is in many ways more infuriating than the actual problem. My own experience was that I bought an ex-demo Lafree from a dealer (who I won't name here) and asked him specifically if the charger was ok - as I had read about the problem here and in AtoB. He not...

    Powabyke Commuter Forks

I agree, Flecc. The people behind Powabyke may not have invested as much as others in developing their product but at least they have given a little bit of thought to their business model and route to market! Most people want to buy bikes from a local dealer and want to get them fixed...
