Could you post any pics of the trike, or similar please. If it's anything like what the pictures Google throws up, then the big issue will be traction if a front hub motor is used.

Are you sure you haven't accidently disconnected the wrong end of the cable harness. You're after the green coloured plug at the end with the bunch of four cables.

If I were getting 18 miles plus out of a 3 year old battery of that capacity and charge cycles, then I would still be happy. As d8ve says, only replace if you are not happy with the range.

I think as long as you ride through dry sandy areas and use a dry lube on your drivetrain, then you should have no problems. Wet sand would be a different matter. I would be inclined not to wash it unless you give it a good brush down, or blast the sand off with an air hose first.

Not tried the Smart Sam, but did run Schwalbe Landcruisers with similar protection. Unfortunately I got a couple of punctures, which led me to fit the Marathon Plus tyres. Haven't looked back since. The protection ratings may be almost the same between the Landcruiser and the Marathon, but the...

Be sure to check that the creak is definitely coming from the front. Bikes have a nasty habit of transmitting noises through the frame, so for example, a creaking seat can appear to come from the front.

If it is still under warranty, then get the vendor to sort it out. Even if you manage to reset it via the display, there's a reason why the display has locked and it may rear it's ugly head in the future. Usually 10 miles from home :eek:
