A few tips on fitting a new Bafang BBSxx controller

Went out for a spin today and had forgotten how lackluster the Bafang factory parameters are. So back in for a quick tune up with the programming cable, and it's now back to the performance it had with the old controller. One thing I noticed, which is a bit odd, is that the Limited Current(A)...

Removing BBSxx controller potting. Not for the faint hearted!

I was going to attempt to remove the factory potting compound from my old BBS02 controller. I didn't need to do this, but just wanted to see what all the fuss was about on Endless Sphere, where members have mentioned it being a PITA. After a few minutes I gave up, realizing that it would be a...

A few tips on fitting a new Bafang BBSxx controller

Finally got round to moving my lazy arse and fitted my replacement BBS02 controller. The original one had given up the ghost, due to the infamous expiry of the crap mosfets Bafang used on the older units. Luckily, all new controllers come with IRFB3077 mosfets. It's a pretty straight forward...

    Anyone tried one of these?

...... but if you're a Gixxer fanatic, then even the BBSHD might not be thrilling enough for you. Maybe a Stealth Bomber is more your cup of tea:

    Anyone tried one of these?

Depends how they're programmed by the vendor. Don't get bamboozled by power figures. Believe me, a BBS02 48v 25A with factory standard programming is plenty powerful enough ;)

    Anyone tried one of these?

You won't get a sustainable 40 mph out of either the BBS02 or the BBSHD. A more realistic figure with a 42T front chainring and 11T rear cog is 25 mph for the BBS02 and 30 mph for the BBSHD.

Is this the most over-priced ebike?

I agree flecc. How many times have we heard statements like this, only for the product to blow up in one's face  ' Our patent pending spring loaded locking mechanisms pass through the fork and steerer tubes to create a safer lock. There is a secondary safety in place. The design is...

Is this the most over-priced ebike?

If you live in Canada, then it might be worth a punt, as you can bray on their door when it breaks down. If importing into UK, then it's a big risk. Better to get something like this from Woosh, and relax in the knowledge you will have great after-sales service and water tight warranty to...

Is this the most over-priced ebike?

Think they've fooked up when changing the price. If you click on the ' 1 sold ' next to quantity, a customer bought it for £489, which is a much more realistic price. Sometimes eBay sellers inflate buying price dramatically, so customers won't buy whilst they acquire more stock. In this case...

If you have one of those dolphin batteries in the frame, how well balanced is the bike?

    Bafang.

    1) I see no reason why it wouldn't fit the Saracen 2) You will have to buy a battery and charger 3) To build a well balanced bike, you should buy a battery that fits where the water bottle holder should be. It'll be unlikely you'll have room for the charger too! 4) The Bafang BBS02, as in your...

    Bafang.

When you ask questions about the kits, please could you stipulate exactly which kit i.e. Bafang BBS02 crank/mid drive or Bafang CST rear hub motor. I thought you were after a Bafang BBS02 mentioned in posts 5 and 6 o_O

    Bafang.

The Bafang kit can be fitted to most bikes with any wheel size, but as I say, this can be not without problems. Usually a problem fitting a kit will arise as you come to it and cannot be pre-empted. Why not buy a complete bike within your £800 budget, ride it, get to know how it works and how...

You could get a Bafang BBS02 500W 36V CD Kit with 15AH Battery from Woosh Bikes, which I think is what you are after: http://wooshbikes.co.uk/cart/ Bear in mind that these kits can present some problems when fitting, and as you admit to being a noob, might not be the best thing for you. Have...
