    Crank

Morning I have just replaced everything like for like on original parts,i read that there has to be a 1mm-2mm gap between sensor and magnet.Just don't understand why anything in crank itself would have moved to disrupt this, thank you for reply Regards Ian

    Crank

Normally, that happens when you have the incorrect speed sensor in the motor or the wrong setting for the speed sensor in the LCD. You haven't told us what stuff you have, so I can't help beyond that other than to suggest you change the number of magnets from 1 to 6 in the speed sensor setting.

Nylon Gears in Ebike motors. Why?

I guess you're talking about crank-drive motors. Hub-motors have nylon gears too, but failure is extremely rare, except when the motor has been substantially over-powered or jammed by rust.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to replace all electric bits (including motor) with generic Chinese stuff? BB shouldn't be a problem. It is the shape of the frame around BB that will make it very difficult to convert. Can you show us some pictures please?

    New to folding e-bikes.

A 'universal' pedal sensor without pulling the bottom bracket is something we dream of! I think you are always having to pull the chainwheel or LH crank. We have tried a couple of units with an inner comb to slide over the axle. The body just float, anchor by the wire. It doesn't work with our...

The problem you have fitting a mid drive to a modern full suspension mtb is that they're designed with a small chainwheel so that they can have wide chainstays for big tyres. That means that the front of the chainstays catch on the motor housing., so make sure that you definitely have enough...

    My bafang bbso1 build

With these crank-drives it's quite important to be in the right gear. If you have it in a low gear, the motor will max out on iit's RPM, so you can't go fast. What gear were you in when it would only go 11 mph? It could be the settings that's stopping the motor working properly or it could be...

Thanks for all of this I am 60 overweight and recently started going to work on a limebike as part of getting fitter. I have not really been into bikes since the 1970s when I got a Chipper and was jealous because my older brother got a Chopper . But after that I did have a road racer very very...

    48V battery for 36v controller?

No, and even if it did, it would be useless because it would spin the crank 30% faster, which might not suit your pedalling. If you pedal at the normal 60 rpm, the motor would run inefficiently, but if you're a spinner with a background in BMX racing, it might be an improvement.

California Police's e-bikes have mid drive motors, not hubs, any ideas why?

Maybe they have some steep hills to climb. Another thing - they may have some heavy cops riding them. Heavy rider - steep hills - you need that little motor to operate at suitable revolutions, and the gears on the bike allow that with a crank motor.

    Controller

So is it a hub motor or a crank drive? If the former, then look for the pas sensor. This is often a plastic disc with magnets in it, mounted on the pedal shaft. It needs to be a consistant 1mm from the detector. The detector often has an led on it that flashes as each magnet passes it. This...

There is a thread somewhere, where it's already been done on similar bike, possibly a Crossfire. Try typing into Google "pedelecs carrera KT controller" and see what vomes up. I haven't done it myself, but I understand how the Carrera bikes work and the other stuff. The motors work the same...

    ZF 48v Ebike System

That gear system is similar to other systems that have been around for a very long time, which have been used in a few ebike motors before, and like the recliner mechanism of your car seats. It's often used when you want zero backlash. The gear ratio comes from the difference in the number of...

    ZF 48v Ebike System

Interesting. Picked up on two interesting innovations - Strain Wave Gearing High frequency sampling of crank speed I don't really understand that gearing idea in detail. I looked at the wikipedia diagram, and see how the graphic seems to operate, but don't really see how it turns...

    Hello, new to forum.

Hi Jeff, You wll find more details on the TSDZ8 here: https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?tsdz The main difference between Tongsheng TSDZ crank drive kits and others is the Tongsheng kits have torque sensors. The main thing about motors with torque sensor is the output of the motor increases with your...

How much battery sag is too much for a 3 year old battery?

Even with "Start Degree" set to 4: After stopping on my gear 4 (57.8 gear inches) or lower, starts on level road were fast enough - pedal assist starts faster now with "Start Degree" set to 2. Feels like it should be possible to accelerate a little bit faster from a standing start with 6kph...

How much battery sag is too much for a 3 year old battery?

I am back with my kit e-bike again and have been riding this morning before the horrible downpours arrived (right now it is torrential outside). I have not yet addressed the changes to throttle which we were discussing. I am in an undecided state as to whether I need to. I generally don't...
