    Brexit, for once some facts.

The system in Ireland is full PR. There are multiple seat constituencies , with 3, 4 or 5 places. The geographic boundaries are set by civil servants ..not politicans ..so are not corrupt. After the election the Quota for election is set at (number of valid votes cast / no of seats )+1 . Rarely...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Actually I can imagine such a scenario..and it is common place throughout the rest of Europe..... It means that people ( and I know this is a novel concept) work together. Coalitions are the norm elsewhere. And it leads to representative democracy

But of course, this UK government has not passed any legislation yet nor has it left the EU.

Of course Parliament has a say in the deal he negotiates. His 360 acolytes are all MPs with exactly the same power as his. That they will choose to say nothing is still a choice and is a say.

Well it worked in the sense that a vote was achieved. But it has not worked in any other sense. Things need to made as simple as necessary ,but no simpler. One sensible decision that BJ has made is in retaining Julien Smith as Secretary for NI ...I suspect this came out of his phone call with...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

All the British political parties were like lemmings after the referendum and parroted phrases like "we respect the will of the people".. when they were utterly unsure of what that was. I regret that Labour was not more obviously Remainer.. it is desirable for an opposition to oppose. . But...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I had to look up this topic. A view is that there was a theft of 5 years pension contributions from 3.8 million people. Now 58 billion is a lot of money which is 15k per person . It would come from current taxation, and would inevitably recirculate as increased spending and taxes ,so its impact...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Actually Corbyn was very clear... in the way a competent, but bored teacher is in discussing cross multiplication ,but was drowned out by the simple mantra. Anyone who thinks Brexit can be done by January is SIMPLE. Even the more astute will assume January 2021, and not the more plausible...

    Winter DIY - Heated grips

There are some people with very poor circulation, even in the UK . There is a medical condition called Raynaud's , so rather than poo pooing the idea, be grateful that you do not suffer. Fortunately I do not suffer from it and simple woollen gloves do fir me.

Well I would hope so!. It is such an unusual occurance,it should make national news. It is when you reach a stage that it is normalised and no longer newsworthy , that you have to worry.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

No. It is not . What the EU want is for the UK to be a fully functioning member of the EU. But we recognised two years ago that that was unlikely to happen.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Not quite.. the EU is prepared to move on without the UK. And prepared is the operational term.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

As I said it is a seesaw. The 40 more he got over the mid point makes a DIFFERENCE of 80. But it is 40 in a group of 650 . The effect is the same in any legisture, but First Passed the Post model amplifies the rate at which marginal gains at constituency level affect the overall. In a...

Its a seesaw with 650 positions. The balance point is at 325. ,He moves over to the 365 slot . This landslide is actually 40/650

No. He is in with a 40 seat majority.. the loss or gain of a seat means 2 votes on critical issues either way.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That is yet the same argument again and again. The Tories have won 40 more seats than the combined opposition. It assumes that they will always vote the same way, and that there will be no deaths or defections. The 40 seats can be eroded quickly . While SF have not yet taken their seats, and...

Those figures are wrong. They, the Tories have a majority of 40 . The outcomes are definite now, not speculation. To assume that the DUP will be in support of the Tories is fiction.

And in other news.. the Majority of MPs elected in NI are non Unionist... The Alliance party has no position on the Union. And the DUP got the drubbing which I predicted. The Brexit position is unpopular in NI ,the Johnson Brexit even more so. And in other other news ,the success of the SNP...
