Aldi 145L "Heavy Duty" Trunk £17.99

Ahhh, utitlity cycling from a post war bygone age. Notice, no specialised clothing, bike wasn't locked up and the scarcity of vehicles. Also no gears and no motor. To have a kit like that, the woman was probably quite well off - comparatively. I bet Flecc used to sell those

    Black Friday sales

The only thing I use Amazon for is to zone in on the name/description of what it is I'm looking for. This establishes a datum price. I can then continue to search and nearly always find it cheaper elsewhere. There is the odd occasion where I can only find the item on Amazon and have to, very...

    Help! Conversion suggestions

This is why I bought my motor as a bare unit and learned to build the wheel, great fun and not such a dark art as I thought. And just to prove it, here's the AKM128cst in the 26" wheel of my recumbent. That's a 180mm disc it's up against...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

This is something that interests me. I have a small (1.75Kwp) array. It's paying me around 52p/unit for generation with an assumed 50% export paid at around 3.5p/unit. So we have a generation only meter. Obviously we use most,if not all, of it, but the annual income more than covers the...

Definitly a candidate for 'Darwinian selection'.

Display will be fine. Assuming a 26" or 700c wheel, then 201rpm will be ok. If you get a 36v motor and run it at 48v this will become around 260rpm. I think that puts it in the sweet spot for 15.5mph. Saneagle will no doubt clarify. Don't forget to put your wheel size in when ordering.

Ones black - the others silver ! As for torque brackets, I've used these several times, very adaptable. Check you have the right one for your motor spindle size...

    Illegal ebike crackdown Coventry

From reading the second article the ban is only on e scooters and e bikes - not analogue cycles. E scooters are illegal anyway, so why the need for a ban? If I ride my bike with the power turned off is it not just a bike? Isn't that kind of the point of an eapc? Just a usual knee jerk fudge...

    Hello

Greetings from another Ceredigionite. Lovin the polka dot theme.

Why is so much illegal 'commuting' not policed ?

Here in Ceredigion the blanket application of 20 limit is an absolute mess. There are some places signed and some not. There are 20 signs followed by 30 repeaters. There are signed 30 areas with repeaters but the flashing led tells you 20. There are 20 limits on roads with good visibility but...

    Return to the bent!

Haven't altered the controller delivery, so I'm guessing it's in current mode. Unfortunately, the bike is hanging in the shed as I am being afflicted by a severe sciatica episode so I can't lift my right leg to the pedal without firing the nerve off. Riding the upright is, however, a pleasure...

    Help! Pas in reverse

I fitted a 12 magnet, with a KT controller, to my recumbent. Changing C1 to 07 got it working. No one more surprised than me !

    New battery

They're all over the internet. Many now from UK wharehouses. You buy the whole rack so make sure it is fit for youe wheel size. Pick the capacity you want and the voltage. When you find one, post it on here and there will be help with knowing if the cells are good, or too good to be true at...

Jimmy at ebike batteries, important news

Ooops. Maybe my old git brain has misremembered. They say that they start at low output with pulses of high output whilst sensing the battery voltage. If it's low then the charger will continue in low mode until battery voltage comes up enough to allow normal charging without high current...

Jimmy at ebike batteries, important news

Quick, somebody tell Saneagle, they have their pulse chargers on line again - he said he wanted one. I have one of the standard 2A chargers, it feels reassuringly solid and heavy. It stays relatively cool whilst charging and just generally looks the bussiness.

Help! Bike for semi-specialised use - purchase advice

I agree, a hub motor is the way to go. As well as a 250w rated hub, make sure it is a geared hub, not a direct drive. Whilst DD motors are good at high speed on the flat I suspect it may well bog down and stall in soft sand. I think you may struggle to find such a fat bike, most seem to come...

    Help! Incorrect motor?

The wheel size setting is there to facilitate speed read out. A smaller wheel will go more rpm/mile than a larger wheel, therefore changing it to 20" means the mph display will be low, if set to 26 it will be high. You're sort of stuck in the middle, does it have a 24" setting? The other thing...
