Never thought I would agree with Jeremy Clarkson

I don't know what is like in other parts of the UK, but here in Swansea, outside the city centre (and even occaisionally inside), lots of people ride on the pavements, no-one seems bothered. I suspect that the main reason is that most people drive cars and frankly would prefer to see bikes on...

Never thought I would agree with Jeremy Clarkson

Well, I would like to see Copenhagen style planning laws in this country, so I could not understand why many of the posters on that site were criticising him.

    Tom's BEAST - 9,000 watt DH Bike

But where can you use it? Most council footpaths ban motor cycles. You can only go 15 yards on to common land unless to save life or fight fire. It is alright to glibly talk about 'Off road', but unless you are a landowner or have permission from a landowner, there is no such place.

should E bike,s have a diagnostic test system

Following on what Rog London says, if instead of trying to understand each and every little part on an e-bike, if you treat each part of the system as a whole and replace where necessary, then complicated diagnostics are not really needed. The expensive bits are the battery and motor and it is...

    Powabyke Carbon brushes

I had a similar problem with a car heater motor. I went to an electrical wholesalers and bought some brushes that were far too big. It was an easy job to file them down to size.

    ''Hawk''cycles

Tesco are selling a 'Hopper' make 20 inch wheel electric folder for £400. Claims to have a lithium battery. No other spec. and it is only in the new catalogue, not on the web site.

What they also do not tell us is what if the electric motor was replaced by a small ICE engine. How would that perform on hydrogen.

Feedback sought for Pedelecs site update

I don't really see the point of the blogs. Much of what is posted would be better off on the main forum.

New, confused and needing advice please!

Nic, I am 69 years old and have a touch of arthritis so pedalling is not my best point. But, I can pedal lightly, about the sort of force that would allow you to pedal about 10-12 mph along the flat. This means that I must have a throttle, so that when pedalling becomes too much, I can take a...

    Obstructions on cycle paths

Riding along a combined cycle/pedestrian path today in Swansea, I came to one of those constructions presumably intended to keep motor bikes off the path. Trouble was , there was a disabled person in one of those new pavement/road scooters which are quite big and heavy and he could not get...

BH Emotion Neo Cross - is it legal here?

It is interesting that you mention a downside to torque sensors, because I have always been doubtful of their need on what is in reality a very feeble motor bike. The simple magnet ring, accompanied by a power level setting device on the handlebar works well and also allows 'underpedalling'...

    Flat foot pedalling

No, I don't mean the local cops. What I mean is instead of using the approved method of putting the ball of the foot on the pedals, put the pedal more towards the heel so that the centre part of the foot is pushing downwards. It all started when digging the garden and I realised that I was...

This could be worth a punt

I know who is selling it, but as a general principle, there has to be a very good explanation for a bike being sold without battery and charger.

    Removing rear gear cogs?

i don't think the spike is essential if you are careful, it is just to stop the socket canting over when pressure is applied. Using the smaller non spike socket, you can always insert the skewer.

Erratic Electric problem with my Bearprint.

No half way house about it at all. It is a true crank drive, not a chain puller. The truth is that it is in my opinion the best crank drive system. It has a pedelec if you want to use it, not sophisticated, just a magnet disc and three power levels. When pedalling these power levels give...

    Removing rear gear cogs?

There are two types of socket, the one with the spike is for axles with quick release skewers, the other for solid axles. You will also need a chain whip, do NOT be tempted to do without. 40nm is about 30 foot pounds so the locking ring will be on quite tight. It will aslos make an awful...
