    Cycle Commute below zero?

Well i grabbed what i think is a bargain. 30 quid for a pair of unused scwalbe ice spikers. Will wait till temps drop again before putting them on. Maybe overkill but at that price it made sense Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk

    Gears and Tyres

Touch wood i have not had a puncture yet...u hope thats because the slime is doing its job. The thought of having a puncture on my 15 mile commute is quite daunting. I carry a spare tube and tools for changing it...but cant say i look forward to the day it happens...no doubt it will be pitch...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Good advice, thanks. The part of my route where I currently take the main road, I can replace with a canal path....if i feel more confident when I have the studs, I may well take that instead of the road....but it is very narrow, and sort of slopes sideways down to the canal, so not for the...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Decided I am going to get some winter tyres after all. Problem I am having is no one seems to have any in stock. I have found these, which do get good reviews, but they are only 1.75 inch where my normal tyres are 1.95...is this likely to cause any issues...

Yes, definitely. If you can get a test drive, I would recommend it. Ive only had it a few weeks, but had no issues so far. I do a 15 mile commute, and I can do that in around 45 minutes on a fast run. My average time is around 55 minutes.....part towpath/trail, 4 miles on regular roads. I run...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

I see what you are saying... I almost went flying this morning, not because of ice, but wet soggy leaves, although not sure if spikes would have helped in that situation

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Well, it was minus 2 when I left this morning, the first part of my route was down an untreated road, so took it quite steady. Then onto the trans pennine trail, again quite icy looking, but it felt ok, so upped the speed a bit, but a fair bit slower than normal. Then onto the bit I wasn't...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Thanks all for the great advice. Plenty of things to think about. My biggest problem is the fact that I cant really avoid the tow paths and trail parts of my route without adding another 5 miles on the journey, and then its down either narrow country lanes or mad busy roads with no cycle lanes...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Ok, think I'll get some as soon as I can. One more maybe stupid question.....I have slimed my current tyres....is that going to create me problems removing the current tyres......slime everywhere?

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Thanks Warwick, mine are 26 inch, I'll have a look around at options...I assume you can put them on for the winter and leave them, or do you need to keep swapping them back to regular tyres when, as Im sure it will we get a mid winter summer...

    Cycle Commute below zero?

Well, with the temperature dropping to 2 degress this morning, the roads were looking a bit shiny! Most of my route is on tracks and canals and a bit of road, total 15 miles. Back new to cycling after, what, 20 years or more...hence the ebike. Question is, is it mad to continue to use the bike...

Switching the 350w BPM motor on my Big Bear for a 500w one

I don't know the legal answer, but my argument would be you aren't breaking the law if the speedo goes up to 200 on your car....its only when you go over the limit that you are.

Can anyone tell me how to reset the trip counter please? I've downloaded the LCD manual but it doesn't say how to do it....just to cycle through the different screens Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I just grabbed the whole grip and twisted it round as I pulled it off....it takes a bit of effort, but will come with perseverence
