I've got Mary bars and they cured my problem - mostly. I tried bar ends on the bend, but they were too far forward. Tried them on the ends and they are just all wrong.
A 7Ah lithium battery will give you about 25 miles, sla's won't come near that. Also they do not like being deep cycled (charge to dis charge) and it shortens their life. Their voltage drops off very quickly under continuous current draw, so providing less power.
Sla's are good for long term...
I had two old bike tyres, I couldn't get rid of them anywhere. All the local recycling centres refused them with a simple,'We can't take tyres', and no suggestions as to what to do. I'm afraid they ended up folded up in the black plastic bin liner.
There are 36 combinationsof phase and hall connections. There was another post recently where a connection table was linked too. Basically you have to painstakingly go through all combinations. Most will not work, some will work roughly, I think only 2 or 3 will work well.
Found it...
I suppose he's saying that because the motor would be right up the front of the boom putting power through the drive chain. In the case of the street machine this would mean it could be specced with their standard hub gears (which, believe it or not, actually works out cheaper). With such a...
Tricky to say as they are all built to order and the spec choices are many. I was looking at a fairly basic spec only upgrades being shimano 3x10 gears (to allow rear hub motor - standard gears are hub) and rear pannier rack. Seemed to be in the region of £2500, my wallet retired to a dark...
My wife has a Big Bear (older model) and it is a very upright Dutch style riding position. It has an adjustable handlebar stem so the bars can be bought well back and up. The bpm motor has loads of torque and has a current control system so going up through the control levels gives reasonable...
That sort of noise would normally indicate that the motor revs are too low, but at the cadence you state.......?
As Neal says, take it back, 'snot right.
I too am toying with the idea as I hope it would ease the neck/shoulder ache I get fron arthritus. I've been looking at the Velotechnic street machine, but boy are they expensive and hard to get hold of.
There are two bikes in our house. Amongst them are two schraders, one presta and one woods.
Fortunatly my Lidl track pump fits 'em all. I do expect the presta skinny top to break of some time though.
You MUST charge the batteries seperately, then BEFORE you connect them, measure the output voltage of each battery.
They must be as near equal voltage as makes no difference.
Very important - do check.
I can't see why any competant bike shop would have any problem building a new rim onto the hub. Take the wheel out and take it to a shop, no need to mention that it's from an e-bike.
Alternatively you could buy a rim and do it yourself - there's lot's of how to videos on'tinternet.
No, that's exactly right. With deraileur gears it's best to shift down as you approach a hill so that the load on the peddles is lighter. If you do have to shift down on a hill lighten the peddle load as the shift happens, otherwise they will crunch/grind.
It'll soon become intuitive.
As Neal says, no clutch. So, when unpowered, the motor acts as a generator and you get the magnetic drag added to the larger weight of the motor.
It's this type of motor that has been used in bikes with regenerative braking, but the charge gain is so small ( due to the low mass of bike and...
Hi Matt,
Been reading this with interest, that and doing 5 different installations is the way I've learnt. Each one throws up it's own curiosities.
On the battery, it does sound like yours is well on it's way out. If you put a new battery on the existing controller it will work but be under...
