Having spent time with apehangers, I can't see me tolerating them on a bicycle. There's no natural rest position, in that you must keep gripping the bars to simply keep your arms up - not very good at all. Otoh, I rather like the frame design - it's fresh and funky and looks good to my eyes...

I like the notion of BAs, but I'm a bit leary of the fairly smooth tread on them. I'd prefer something like a BA but with more tread and (like a BA) kevlar belt. Round here, the back roads are as rough as a hedgehog's bum, so a bit of extra air suspension would be nice.

It's an old Claud Butler mtb, converted. The rear stays narrow considerably at the front, so I reckon I might be restricted to a max of 2.15" width of BA - I doubt the 2.35" would fit. The original tyres were 1.9" Vredestein Monte Carlos. I considered Marathon Plus, but they're not particulary...

I've been looking at Schwalbe Big Apple tyres and fancy fitting one on the rear motor wheel, so to give some bump absorption and I see they have a Kevlar belt, so might avoid some punctures (thorns abound when hedge-cutting is going on). I just wonder if the BA is the bees knees of balloon...

The Tesco price per tube is around the same as the Aldi price per tube in a box of two. I've been acquring some recently (well, it seemed rude not too, as they look like good quality) and will fit a couple of them sometime soon. I've not heard any bad things about them so far.

I didn't bother fitting the brake cut-outs to my conversion at all. After all, 200Kmiles of riding motorcycles taught me to use a throttle. It's not exactly difficult.
