    last kit help question Honest!

Several happy Oxydrive kit owners on here. I don't have one, but I have tried the stronger motor as fitted to the 13ah Oxygen MTB. Recommended. I'm not sure what woosh has in the pipeline, but most improvements in ebiking are no more than incremental. What is the delivery time of the new...

Crank drive - mid-drive vs. hub motor (Woosh Big Bear / Krieger)

I take it the shorter timing means a faster response to pedal input. Sounds good, if so.

Cost of new batteries - re Wisper

As the owner of three Bosch batteries, I hope your are right. I've yet to notice any deterioration in my batteries, but I can't help feeling I'm on borrowed time.

    Water Ingress???

I agree the battery cup is not Bosch's best design effort. Strictly, it's a collar for the connector which almost floats, so I suppose a few drops of water around it is unlikely to cause a problem. I've never seen any water around mine, but my riding is only road and cycle path, and rarely in...

New owner of a Haibike xDuro FullSeven RC

For some reason most Haibike/Bosch publicity pics are the 'wrong' way around - bike facing left, not showing its drive side. This is demonstrated on Martin's website where the Haibikes facing the 'right' way are all Yamaha powered. https://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/Electric-Bikes-UK-Dealer&filter=19

Mystery noise on my big bear - suggestions please.

Makes sense. The freehub is deemed to be vastly superior, but a new freewheel will get you useful extra service life - hopefully more than 2,000 miles this time.

    Haibike sDuro Hard Seven

I'm not sure a Bosch motor ever 'screams its little heart out' - the Germans don't design things that way. There is a technique to getting the best out of the motor, but 'spinning up hills' just about covers it. The Yamaha sounds a bit more complicated, but I imagine most owners won't be...

Crank drive - mid-drive vs. hub motor (Woosh Big Bear / Krieger)

I have a first generation Bosch derailleur bike which has no gear changing gadget as far as I know. Gear changing is no problem, I soft pedal changes as I would on an unpowered bike. The Bosch system is renowned for responding to pedal input - sometimes when you don't want it to - so when I...

Mystery noise on my big bear - suggestions please.

Sounds to me like a broken axle. The bike still works after a fashion because the quick release holds everything together. The seven speed freewheel is notoriously unreliable and has largely been replaced by the freehub system, which has eight or more speeds. http://sheldonbrown.com/free-k7.html

Some advice from you experts please!

The OP's budget is 'under £1,000 if possible'. Not everything in life is possible, as I'm sure you know. Nor would she be the first person to set out with a budget of about £1,000 and then spend a lot more. I did when I bought my Rose.

Some advice from you experts please!

You can have almost everything in the shape of a Kalkhoff Tasman. Good looking, practical. quality German roadster which should last for years. Any fraulein would cut quite a dash on one. http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/comfort/tasman_classic_impulse_8_black.html

    WINORA Y280.X 2015

Winora appears to own Haibike, while itself being part of the Acell Group which owns lots of brands. There will be some rebadging going on, so a Winora may look the same as a Haibike or the same as something else made by Acell. http://www.winora-group.de/en/welcome/

Post links to the two bikes. Otherwise, no one will know what you are talking about because there are that many Haibike Crosses and Duros.

Common problem, buying an ebike is not like buying a telly - or even an ordinary bike - where you can visit shops and view dozens of the things. There are a few notable exceptions, a couple of which you have been directed to. Unfortunately for you, the few shops with stock tend to be in the...

    Gadget Show tonight

Both the bikes - and those stand on contraptions - were used on a test track. I didn't pick up any inference from the programme those gadgets or the bikes were legal or not. Seemed to me the programme ignored that question, therefore it doesn't arise - even if some viewers think it should have...

    BH Emotion City Plus

You are correct that battery life - as in how many years it provides usable service - makes a second hand ebike a risky purchase. But your assessment of the pace of change is way off the mark. A three or four year old quality ebike, such as a Kalkhoff or most Bosch motored bikes, is not...
