    Defending the Salisbury

all joking aside I've found it to be a very good ebike for the price [and of course the terrain I've been using it on] - already done nearly 800 miles on it and only had it since end December...

the rear rack, although it would also need to be uprated from 25kg :D

    Defending the Salisbury

Yep mid suffolk is the most hilly bit. That said, I found my memory map software actually reached all the way back to my old house on the outskirts of Reading, so put in a few routes I used to cycle there such as Reading > Maidenhead > Slough/West London just out of curiosity. I always thought...

    Defending the Salisbury

well Powacycle could have named it the Colchester (being even nearer to their HQ) but it would have cost more as it would have to be done in burberry style check or gold "bling" and have a inbuilt sound system so you could rinse out your hardstyle or drum and bass ( would have reduced the...

    Defending the Salisbury

I've found the Salisbury handles the gradients of Mid Suffolk admirably. Although I am actually a fairly fit cyclist (70 miles a week commuting + weekend travel on my normal bike) It certainly makes hills I would find a bit more tiring much easier to deal with. There are some significant rises...

Hopes for 20 mph assist limit dashed

its an odd thing as its not a whole unbroken lane but just a bit in the middle of the roundabout, and you don't get them on all the exits, but in contrast to even worse attempts I am aware of elsewhere it does seem to have had some thought put into it...

Hopes for 20 mph assist limit dashed

Apologies - didn't make this clear. it is not the ones on straight roads which are on the left almost in the gutter (we have these these too, unfortunately). The roundabout lane is definitely directing bikes into the centre part of the roundabout as you suggest. There are at least two of...

    Wisper 905se 2009

given that dates of manufacture aren't recorded per bike, and an ebike manufactured in 2006 might have the same overall appearance as one made in 2011, how will the authorities work out whether its an older model with a throttle, or a newer model which has had one added at a later date?

Hopes for 20 mph assist limit dashed

I've had no problem whatsoever "taking the lane" at roundabouts/junctions in Ipswich (compared to Reading, Maidenhead, Slough or West London which was where I mostly used to cycle before moving here). However the narrowness of some roads and appropriate road markings (including actual cycle...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

depends on region I suppose - they certainly caught 'em here in East Anglia (where until recently cycles were even readily left unlocked!) It of course took a fair few months for detectives to go through CCTV but it turned out to be a gang stealing bikes to "order" across the region...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

I think the design is also a big factor. Some ebikes have batteries which are clearly difficult if not impossible to shift without the key (even if the locking mechanisms are basic); but for others as caph said it could be easy to nick the battery - and I expect this would be more of a risk...

I wonder if Synergie and Alien are the same company or related... they both seem to give an address in Inverkeithing Scotland...

So how many of us are NOT men.

In some cases (saddles, frame sizes and geometry etc) it does make a difference. I'm sure our gender differences can be all discussed decently and respectfully, I don't think people are hoping to turn this into a knocking shop for as they already have plenty of other sites for for this if they...

So how many of us are NOT men.

mice, for their size, are often more assertive and even aggressive than rats, cats, primates or humans! a simple enhancement would be for Russ to turn on the bit you get on some vbulletin forums where there is a choice of ♂ ♀ symbols (or undisclosed) on each persons post, although its more...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

unlike 26" wheels, batteries will only gain a street value once ebikes become popular enough for people to realise what they are and that enough less scrupulous people are riding them. although I'm sure its happened I've hardly ever heard of a 700c wheel being nicked even when they are on...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

this is a risk to all bikes with QR seatposts. Anyone here care to suggest appropriate security measures?

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

I know Powacycle have some system whereby the "ignition key" locks the battery down into its housing so it would be very difficult to remove quickly. presumably other bikes have this. also, as flecc mentioned demand would currently be low and the kinds of people currently riding e-bikes tend to...

Help Removing a powerbyke front wheel

I've only done this for the back wheel on a Powacycle Salisbury but the basic techniques are very similar if it has v-brakes first spring the release on them so the brake arms are out of the way of the wheel the issue with the wheel nuts is they tend to be larger than the non-motored wheel...
