    Pro connect disc sprocket clarification

I was, rightly or wrongly, assuming that the motor output power would be constant regardless of rpm. If it isn't constant, and falls with rpm, then I can see how the larger motor sprocket will compromise hill climbing ability.

    Pro connect disc sprocket clarification

I'm having difficulty with the reduction in climb ability too. The motor output power surely remains the same regardless of the size of sprocket fitted to its output shaft and the shaft power consists of two components, omega and T. So if omega is reduced by the larger sprocket, then T has...

    Pro connect disc sprocket clarification

I'm not sure about the 11 tooth motor sprocket reducing the assist ratio. P(power) w(angular velocity) T(torque) P=wT At a fixed reference road speed, with an 11 tooth sprocket, w will be less than with a 9 tooth, but as a cosequence, won't T increase, thus compensating? ie w9>w11...

I want to build a power-assisted rickshaw bike and SELL MY CAR! Advice, anyone?

I'm sure that it will be a great way to get the children to school and they will enjoy travelling in it too. I have family in Novara and am always envious of the gentle family orientated culture in the town. Good luck with the project.

I want to build a power-assisted rickshaw bike and SELL MY CAR! Advice, anyone?

Don't do it. The children will be bullied if they arrive at school in one of those.

    Newbie requires advice please.

The two main drive systems, or types, are hub motor dives and crank motor dives. Both very different and suit different people in different ways.

You are doing absolutely the right thing. Try out a range of different bikes and different drive systems.

Head or heart – a comparison of Kalkhoff and Cytronex bikes

Yes, reducing the rear sprocket size does, technically, put it outside the regulations and if you want to stay on the right side of them, then the modification isn't for you.

    Biketec Flyer 2011

There is an electric bicycle hire scheme starting in Derbyshire soon. The poster advertising it displays BikeTec bikes. I don't know if this is just a generic poster or if they are using BikeTec machines. I'll ask my wife when I see her next, I think she has something to do with it.

Head or heart – a comparison of Kalkhoff and Cytronex bikes

I can't open your word document because I'm away from home and can only access the forum on my iPhone, so forgive me if I have missed something in that write up. I noted that you thought the Pro Connect to be slow. Have you tried altering the gearing by changing the rear sprocket to something...

    8-10-12-18? Panasonic Batteries

We won't know the definitive answer as to whether these new German batteries are any good for another 18 months to 2 years. It's only after the initial euphoria subsides and you settle into the relentless cycle of usage that committing brings, that the battery's true worth is revealed. As eddio...

    Gazelle Easy Glider Battery

Does your bike have the Panasonic crank drive? For some reason, the thought crossed my mind that it does. If so, you should have no problem sourcing a battery. Ps just found one. It is a Panasonic. Try On-bike or 50 Cycles. They deal in Panasonic crank driven bikes, and I'm sure they will be...

What the budget did for Cyclists...

This is where it all falls down. They wont abide by the ban. We don't punish properly anymore, there are no consequences, we don't hold to account, no one takes responsibility, the offender is always the victim. The scrapping of cars driven without insurance is already in existence. As...

What the budget did for Cyclists...

Well going back to what the budget did for cyclists, as an indirect consequence, it has strengthened my resolve to continue using my bike. I've only filled the car up once this year and still have 3/4 of a tank left. The wife's car is a different story though. I've certainly seen more people...

What the budget did for Cyclists...

The tanker driver was a self employed person who moves fuel for all the main names as well as supermarkets. He could still have been talking out of his bottom though, but I suppose that the fact he has no allegiance to any particular oil company does give him a bit more credibility...

What the budget did for Cyclists...

I don't doubt that they are struggling, just like everyone else. Those facing redundancy, a pay cut, increased pension contributions or a pay freeze for example. I watched the budget yesterday and I don't remember the chancellor saying that he was cutting fuel duty so that petrol station...
