    Brexit, for once some facts.

there used to be a line between comedians and politicians, comedians and journalists. People know that what comedians say on the TV is pure fiction and they expect better from politicians and journalists. With Donald Trump and Boris Johnson, when they speak, you don't know if you are watching a...

Very heavy rider (25st+) - Is it worth even trying?

you'd be OK with the Big Bear. Hatti insists on putting a limit the rider's weight only as a precaution. You'll have to keep the tyres well pumped up and slimed or ask for the bike to be fitted with Marathon plus tyres.

some call his tactics cheating and lying. he'd call it 'too brutal for the other side' untrustworthy I'd call it.

Who was asking about shaft drives?

that's how they sell you tougher replacement discs. There are plenty of lightweight sub 100g cassettes that work well.

Who was asking about shaft drives?

modern implementation of a 120 year old idea. Still brilliant though.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I find Donald Trump a clever and dangerous politician. He is very effective in negotiation because he won't run away from a fight and is quite willing to use tactics that are normally not seen in politics. For example: it's clear what he said in the interview by Tom Newton Dunn yesterday and...

    Fire destroys 6000 batteries, 3000 e-bikes

6000 batteries at 400WH on average, that's more than 20 tones of lithium batteries. Even though Lithium is not toxic, there is an awful lot of plastic in those batteries. It's an incredible feat of modern chemistry that the fire brigade could not find any toxic stuff from the fire.

    Lidl battery packs

you don't run your angle grinder or circular saw or drill for hours non stop. Most people don't even use their drill more than a couple of hours in a year. Then it will be time to get a new pack. E-bikes need very good batteries because it's a transport.

Hatti told me this joke she heard on R4: dring..dring.. 'Hello. This is Theresa May. I'm sorry I can't come to the phone right now but please leave your resignation after the tone....'

The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike

I believe they do, judging by the various videos about bicycle frame flex. The current thinking is stiff front triangle, flexible rear triangle, a bit like a swimming fish. The physics of damping can easily be modelled for each cyclist to find its 'natural frequency' to suit his/her cadence...

    Lidl battery packs

No, they are 2000mAH cells. it should really be described as 18V 2ah. You'd need 4 packs to be of any use on an e-bike, 10-packs to get to the common 36V 10AH. As SW said, if you bought it for your e-bike, the receipt will come in handy.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

this comment is from a reader of the Sun: "Trump is absolutely correct. May is destroying Brexit. No US trade deal can happen if the UK doesn't do a real Brexit." Boris, have you read the Sun today? Home truth to all hard brexiters. Donald is very clear: you can't have your cake and eating it...

My build of a Woosh XF08 CST kit onto an old Saracen Andes.

the bottom bracket on the Saracen has no room for a left pedal sensor. Hello Mike, The sensor is potted inside, totally waterproof. I spotted also that there is no sticky pad between the sensor mount and the seat tube. You need the sticky pad to anchor the sensor. the sensing area is 3mm x...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

TM is rolling out the red carpet for Donald Trump, treats him to a lavish dinner etc etc hoping for a sign of a quick and favourable deal. In view that we need the USA much less than the EU, should TM roll out the red carpet for M. Barnier too?

    Whoosh big bear front forks

I am not sure that GD said his fork sticks, he may have referred to something more like bottoming out. When the bike hits a bump or pothole on the road at high speed, the motor gets accelerated very quickly by the sudden gradient, its weight can make the lower legs of the fork gain a lot of...

The Last Wisper Sneak Preview of the year. 12kg Road Bike

to be perfectly accurate, a stiffer frame does not absorb less energy. Energy is absorbed by damping, not flex. A stiffer frame may or may not help the cyclist.
