    Voltage reduction

You need to tell us what sort of motor, wheel hub or crank and if the latter, exactly what make and model it is. With a hub motor just changing the voltage from 48 to 36 alone will lose you 25% of the speed, so your motor assist might only reach 12 mph. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think it simply reflects the NHS inadequacy I've suffered over the last 66 years of my life. I'm one person who could never clap for it. .

Tannus Aither 1.1 "Razor Blade" First Impressions...

I still remember the account of a reviewer, I think from Velovision, having a solid tyre company representative fit a pair. Apparently the rep used the biggest screwdrivers he'd ever seen as tyre levers, worrying him whether the rims would survive the force used! .

Tannus Aither 1.1 "Razor Blade" First Impressions...

Marathon Plus are quite harsh tyre anyway, due to the carcase and walls being stiffened by the additional thick liner, and the Tannus insert would have made that worse. So I'm not surprised you notice little or no difference. The reason for this odd feeling is that the tyre distortion...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

You may remember long ago how I was completely missed from inclusion in the first Covid jab program and had to belately chase for it, ending up getting mine in a two decade younger group. And then how exactly the same happened for the second jab, getting mine at 14 weeks after the first, way...

why is this even up for debate?

If that is the case where you are, you have my sympathy. There was a time long ago when it was like that here, but not now. Verbal abuse is non existent, road space bullying very rare, cyclists and especially pedestrians are treated well, though the former rarely get 1.5 metre passes because...

    Solar trailer rides again!

Having the wheels supported both sides as the chassis on my trailer does solves that problem, since there is no trailer wide axle. The wheels are also quick release, a blessing when there's a puncture making a quick tube swap easy.

Encapsulating my criticisms. I hope it eventually happens, but the London cycling boom dates back over three decades with the same hopes and it still hasn't happened. .

why is this even up for debate?

You really are obsessed on this subject to a ridiculous degree and I suspect you are far too easily frightened when cycling, I retired almost 32 years ago and immediately intensified my cycling to up to 5000 miles a year to keep fit. I'd bought a new car since I'd been in company cars, but...

    Solar trailer rides again!

Indeed London has some different, but look at all the helmets, the drop handlebars, the lack of mudguards and chaincases, the leaning forward, the large numbers riding at 20 mph or more, the scarcity of step-throughs and even the brakes snatched on due to the speeds. That is not utility cycling...

    Solar trailer rides again!

No. Most countries have their minority of sport cyclists, but they are not at all like Britain with cycling. What is uniquely British is that virtually all our cycling is done in sporting fashion at higher speeds, even utility cycling like commuting. It's a legacy of our adult utility cycling...

    Solar trailer rides again!

Being around at the time, also a cyclist and in the trade, I know how true this is. Almost half the country cycled in the 1940s and '50s, virtually all males. It was all they could afford and public transport was very deficient following WW2 damage and lack of maintenance. Bicycles and and...

    Solar trailer rides again!

No it isn't more likely, and I notice you conveniently leave out Germany. Countries with large flat areas suffer fearsome unobstructed winds. The infamous ones on the polders of The Netherlands are probably why the Dutch, little over a quarter of our population, buy over six times as many...

    Solar trailer rides again!

I'd be astonished, since I have no house, no wife and no children! Seriously, it's exactly a police matter, so I'd inform them. I've no objection to you or anyone informing on genuine serious offences against you, but what is going on with this camera campaign is far too often vindictive...

    Solar trailer rides again!

Doing the job of the police is vigilantism by definition. Of course the government and police love you doing their job for them, even encouraging it since it's getting them off the hook. Thats why this situation will never change all the time you and others do it. It's a con on the public...

    Solar trailer rides again!

Agreed. Emphatically yes, haven't got one and never will have one. Agreed. No it's not caused or aroused. It's simply that bicycles are in the way. Just like milk floats used to be. It's a job solely for the police, vigilantism is always wrong. Every effort should be made to compel...

    Solar trailer rides again!

More height can make a big difference. The trip to the recycling centre, which includes a section of major road, carrying the load shown below was amusing. Unable to see me, drivers were passing slowly with huge clearance and rubber-necking to see what on earth it was they were passing!

    Solar trailer rides again!

Correction, I've never claimed different for France and know of their differences from some of their neighbours. Italy likewise. I've always spoken of the main cycling nations of The Netherlands, Denmark and Germany where cycling is on a very much larger scale involving a high proportion of...

why is this even up for debate?

When it used to happen I ignored it, however it's all but disappeared where I do my travelling now, road manners are vastly improved, with pedestrian and cyclists generally treated very well. This has nothing to do with cycle lanes (mostly useless) or LTNs. Two things have brought about the...

why is this even up for debate?

I don't have to reconsider anything since we are the same people. Our experience is closely matched in every respect, including NCB, except that I now only have the one car, though at one time for a few years I was able to use any out of a fleet of 140 of them! My whole attitude is one of...
