they can all be unlocked one way or another even the bosch smart motors as ebike shop sells those with there dongles fitted and will honor the motor warranty. no dongle has broken any motor and that comes from someone that repair these things for a living ;)

with a bad ass dongle it will get to 25mph b4 it cuts out but this will depend if you can change the front chain ring for a bigger one as most new bikes wont let you go much bigger.
