depends what diy kit and bike you want to fit it 2 a bbs hd will have a 30a controller a bosch bike will have a 20a locked controller and need a dongle to remove the speed limit

yes the difference between just changing the settings in a controller is not the same as a dongle as you can set the amps higher ect a dongle on a bosch bike only removes the speed limit and the controller is 20a even if i shunt mod the controller for more amps it is pointless as id have to do...

Can I just go back to this - What did you mean by the bosch 500w batt is £633? Is this a conversion kit somewhere, I've had a look and cannot find it? Obviously the £750 is for everything, including the bike!

its not road legal but not much on the roads theses days ebike wise is not road legal anyway inc my bosch bike with a dongle i have had for 10 years now. 750 is a ok price but a bosch 500w batt is £633

ebike shop has been selling bikes with dongles they fit from gen1 bosch motors even tho they are type approved with a dongle they are not road legal. but if you see me flying down the road going 35mph im spinning the cranks at 100-120 rpm, im not fat any more ;) but this means plod sees me...

Seems odd that Bafang provides a mechanism to change the programmed diameter of the wheel, but it can't actually be done!, thanks for the info, I'll look into something like that.

Issue resolved. The STlink dongle needed a firmware update. Once updated it now connects ok and I've flashed the motor.

...it wouldn't take a charge in the Spring. The guy with the reseller is waiting for a new battery pack. The guy with the factory one received a Dongle to force charge and wake the battery pack up. It worked. I don't know if this is firmware fixable, but I have had 2 updates in the last year...

i had 6000 miles on my old motor b4 i sent it to peter and as i have a dongle its double that as only records half speed and mileage over 10 mph :p on my kiox display i have 655 miles from the new cx motor from peter to date i bet bosch is pissed :D
