Suntour SP12 NCX suspension seatpost bargain!

Correct. The safety advice is to avoid bottoming out (or topping out): Extract from user manual: WARNING ! Proper preload adjustment is critical for the safe functioning of the SUSPENSION seatpost. Repeated bottoming- or topping-out under use can lead to a structural failure of the suspension...

Suntour SP12 NCX suspension seatpost bargain!

Looking at the bottom of the seatpost, clockwise stiffens it (i.e. shortens the spring & increases the preload). You won't easily move it by hand - you have fit it and sit on it. I tightened it clockwise maybe 80%ish until I got it to just start suspending, but then I'm 19st (= on the edge of...

    Bike Insurance

Looks OK to me since it specifically says 'electrically assisted ones '. It also will pay out for a hire bike. I do like the exclusions (my highlight): Loss or damage caused by wear and tear, light, weather conditions, moths, vermin, insects, fungus, damp, rust, wet rot or dry rot, or anything...

    Bike Insurance

Hello shed, is that Barclays offer rolled into another insurance product? (got a link?) When they're part of home insurance for example, the cost is very low - barely noticable. If it's standalone insurance, I'd double-check what the max value of the bike covered is, and whether they mention...

I'm guessing you mean www.bikemap.net. Looks like a good place to get ideas from.

    Best bicycle navigation software?

Google Maps Google Maps is free. You agreed to give your data by using it, just like every internet gift horse. Of course they monetise it - how else do you pay for mapping of that scale (and I don't mean 1:50000 scale ;) ). Google Maps has an incognito mode if you can't live without, but would...

    Fake ebike battery cells.

I had to read the post quite carefully. Twice. Slow me. Maybe it's worth adding a photo of good versus fake (& labelled as such) side by side, as well as the two fakes side by side. Just a suggestion. But excellent info, thanks.

    Fake ebike battery cells.

The whole point of QR codes is anyone & everyone can read them, and create them - including Inrem: They've printed their name on the battery. I think that's enough warning, no?

    By seized by police!

Anything called 'The Voice of Reason' definitely isn't. Sorry to hear your problems, gsm.terra, but I wouldn't connect these together.

How effective is "slime" at preventing punctures?

Re: Gaadi, I had to look 3 times to make sense of it. Interesting, but it adds two more potential points of failure, i.e. the ends. Also one of the translated Amazon reviews says in a lovely Dutch/German style: > The hose can be easily pulled onto the rim. Unfortunately, the bike rides a bit...

Cruel. But funny for us heartless swines. ;) Thanks for taking one for the team...

Long range hilly terrain road/path bike.

A bit of lateral thinking (but without knowledge of your foot problem, it has to be said) - you might want to consider if a more solid shoe may help spread the weight when you pedal - and whether that may help. Most cycling shoes have less flexibility in their soles for that very reason.

How effective is "slime" at preventing punctures?

Does nobody else carry a spare tube any more? Just make sure you've got rid of the offending thorn/glass before installing the spare. [EDIT: ah, you got there before me!]

Suspension seatposts question asked by oldie

I also have a Suntour SP 12 NCX (after recommendations here - thanks all!). My only minor criticism is that it doesn't seem to have any rebound damping - you hit a hole/bump and you bounce down, and then back up again at about the same rate. Which is better than a hard whack, but not as...

    Bike Workstand

Ah, that is the one downside - all the handlebar gubbins. I found this bell sits conveniently lower than the stem bolts. It works reasonably well - just about loud enough: https://www.knog.com/product/oi-classic-large/ Or just mount the bell facing downwards. I can't help you with your other...

Thinking of selling my E-bike but worried about the process and what to ask?

I'm with Gubbins - if you want it to definitely sell, then start very low. You'll get lots of attention (initially chancers having a hopeful bid), but by the 6th day (assuming a 7 day listing) you'll have several solid bidders watching carefully. I've sold motorbikes worth £4k+ starting at £100...

Thinking of selling my E-bike but worried about the process and what to ask?

Re: price - do it as an auction. If you advertise it correctly (good description - as above, be honest, good images, and time it for Sunday evening) then I can't think of any reason not put it on eBay. It's a market - you'll get what it's worth. Just don't cock up the listing! Measure it...
