Why is my hydraulic disc brake so noisy?

I have an issue with my front Tectro hydraulic disc brake. On applying thw brake it works smoothly until slow speeds when it it makes a loud and sort of vibrating noise. It does pull the bike up perfectly though, but that noise! This is despite renewing both the rotor and pads with original...

Dangerous suspension seat post. Don't buy this!

The single bolt attaching my suspension seat post has just broken during a ride, resulting in the saddle coming away and crashing on to the road. How I avoided a nasty accident I'll never know. The saddle was fixed correctly and I would guess to the correct torque (though not with a torque...

    Tektro hydraulic brake question

My brakes have a tiny screw which is used to adjust the brake lever to a sensible hand position. Whilst my fairly recently replaced (original Tektro) disc pads are not wearing away rapidly as far as I can tell, why do I have to screw in this screw after almost every ride? The fluid has not been...

Broken rear spoke. Caused by rear motor?

Just broken my first ebike spoke on my rear hub motor wheel. It occurs to me that rear wheel spokes must me under greater stress due to the motor effect (as apposed to my previous crank drive bike which did not suffer any spoke issues) Whilst discussing this with an ebike company owner, he...

How critical is the number of chain links?

My 8 speed Woosh has an 118 link KMC X8 chain that is due for renewal. I note that a replacement X8 chain has 116 links. Do I really need to go through the hassle of making up an 118 clink hain? Does having 2 links less have any adverse effect?

Daytime flashing front light: good or bad idea?

Now that the days are becoming increasingly dark, I decided to start using a powerful flashing front light. Today an old guy in a parked car, as I approched, shouted "that front light is ridiculous!" The tone of his voice was that he thought it a bad thing. But is it? My experience to date is...

Extending arm to reduce chance of been hit by overtaking car

Having today heard of a friend who, whilst riding in a group, was almost wiped out by a passing car. It sounded a terrible experience and It got me thinking as to whether an arm sticking out at the rear, with some sort of light/reflector might have reduced a potential disaster. Are such things...

    Suspension seat post advice wanted

My cheapo suspension seat post has started wobbling from side to side. A typical replacement is hard to find at present, and in any case I have the feeling that they do not last long. In fact some of the Amazon reviews suggest they can fail dangerously. I had one on my last bike, for which you...

    Fantastic battery?!

Just bought a new bike with a 17amp Panasonic battery. Previous bike had a 15 amp battery which performed as I expected. So far done 46 miles and only gone down one bar out of five (20%) I estimate say 30% down. That would mean something like 140 miles total range which can't be right? The...

Query re insuring ebike on home insurance

I have just phoned my home insurance company to see if they could insure my ebike. They asked me what the top speed was so I said 15.5 mph, and that that was the normal and legal requirement of all ebikes. I was told that they only insure electric bikes up to a maximum of 8 mph! Is my 2013 Woosh Santana CD worth anything?

Considering a new bike to replace my trusty Woosh (see photo) after 6000 miles. It still is in fully working condition, complete with the battery having been recelled (with cells that it is claimed can be recharged up to 2000 times!). IThe chain ring could do with replacing however. The front...

The King Meter on my Woosh has suddenly stopped indicating both speed and distance travelled.
