    Portable Soldering Iron

Here's one for the soldering people/diy battery builders. I was watching a video on soldering xt90 connectors and the guy happened to pickup a soldering iron called a TS100 and mentioned it far beat's conventional irons because it uses a new 'direct tip' technology. After watching a few video's...

    Which Loctite

Screw-thread experts, these chainring screws have come loose twice, I don't like tightening them up too much because they are only thin aluminium. Which loctite or equivalent would be the one to stop them coming loose but also allow me to unscrew them in the future without damaging them.

    Deans T-Plug Fans

I never liked the old Deans T-plugs having the (heatshrunk)wires visibly connected to the small plugs and prefered the all enclosed anderson style connectors but I came across a newer version which looks a nice little plug set with the wire ends enclosed in a small housing, so am going to give...

    eMTB build

I want to start going off road so decided on a mid motor conversion, I picked up a Carrera Vulcan on sale. ----To add to the challenge when this build is complete I don't want to see any wires !! I think I have achieved that. I decided to go for a 250w GSM mid motor from Woosh since I already...

    Speedict Bluetooth BMS

www.speedict.com Here's one for all the techy battery builders. My new favorite ebike gadget, the Neptune15 Bluetooth connected, app controlled battery BMS. It can be used with cell counts from 10s to 15s using most battery chemistry. Once I figured out how to set it up and use with my lipo's I...

    PAS Controller Power Levels

I was interested to find out what power difference the PAS levels of a KT controller gave, since my mates expensive bike has eco(30%) trail(50%) and turbo(100%) and I wanted to compare. So connected up my battery with the speedict BMS which has built in live WATT meter readout to work it out. I...

    GSM Motor Gear Change Sensor

My first test rides with a GSM crank motor and have found it very different to my usual hub driven bikes to use. Me and the motor did not get on with changing gears with the motor under load which it generally always was, I could not get to blip the brakes and change gear in time so always ended...

    GSM Mid Motor Controller

I've just spotted the 250w GSM mid motor on Woosh's website. Is says without controller. Is there a special mid motor controller needed? or could I use my usual KT controllers from PSWpower or BMSbattery ? If so what would be the max amps this motor can take at 36v for a short time setting off...

    Hollowtech Crank

I know they are called Hollow-tech and the clue maybe in the name but are they supposed to be left "hollow" like this? Or are they supposed to have some sort of plastic bungs in the ends?

    Cells for powerbanks

A good while ago I made several phone charging power-banks with old cells out of my used bottle battery. They proved popular with the family but a couple got lost, one died and the rest don't really last long. I also got one of those 18650 bike battery power-banks to try but have no decent...

    Thought I'd Broken My Frame

Had a couple of falls on black ice a week or so ago. Apart from a smashed light, few bruises and sore joints etc I found my gears weren't changing properly so decide it must be due to the thick mud caked around my derailleur. Cleaned the derailleur and could not get it to adjust when...

    ebike build from scratch

The next bike project is to build a light ebike from scratch, not even a donor bike to start with, just a new frame and parts I already have in my garage which never got fitted to upgrade my current bike and purchase the least I can, I think I have enough parts. I do need to buy a frame though...

    LCD3 P1 Setting

LCD3 P1 Parameter P1 Motor Characteristic Parameter Setting Mode P1 = motor gear reduction ratio × number of rotor magnet pieces Any ideas what this setting 'actually' does? It appears to affect the speed cutoff setting. My P1 was defaulted to 215 and the speed cutoff had to be at 38kph to...

    Large Single Front Crank

I never change the front gears, only ever use the middle cog to access all 8 speeds at the rear. I decided I wanted a larger front cog but in the middle position for the chain alignment. I didn't have any luck finding something so come up with the idea of buying a triple front with removable...
