    Another battery charging problem

It must be my lucky day! I was just starting to examine the wiring to the charging point and moving it a bit prior to testing and I decided to check the reading on the charging port just for practice, only to find that it was 39v and not the zero I was expecting. So I plugged in the charger...

    Another battery charging problem

Thanks both for your suggestions. I haven't yet managed to measure the cell voltages suggested but I have measured the voltage at the charging socket and I found this to be zero whatever the position of the on/off key. However I have been unable to see any broken wires/joints on quick...

    Another battery charging problem

Thanks for your reply. I have now taken the charging end off of the battery but can see nothing that looks like a fuse. I attach a photo.

    Another battery charging problem

Thanks for your suggestion. I have checked the external fuse (30 Amp, blade type) on the end of the battery, and this looks OK . Should there be another one somewhere ?

    Another battery charging problem

I have a problem with my 36v Li-ion battery (rack mounted) not charging. The battery voltage measures 39.1v and the charger 41.9v. From my reading on here it seems that than an inspection/ repair of the battery wiring is required which is beyond my competency. Can anyone suggest where I can...

    LCD display problem

Thanks Nealh for your suggestion I removed the speed sensor and opened it. It all looked neat with connections embedded in a sealant. Since looking at this I have studied the malfunction more closely and have noticed the following When the power is off there is no speed signal When the power...

    LCD display problem

My wife's Cyclotricity conversion kit front hub motor system has developed a problem in displaying the road speed/distance on the LCD display. The data only shows when the motor is under power but the speed reading fluctuates wildly and when the motor is on power level 0 it is not displayed at...

    Battery charging problem

I continued charging for 2 hours after wiggling the suspect wires about without any problem. I then replaced the insulation and reassembled the battery before completing the charging (green light) taking another hour, giving a final voltage of 41.3. Hopefully this state of affairs will continue...

    Battery charging problem

Thanks D8veh for your latest comments and suggestions which I have tried to follow I managed to uncover the black wire at the charging socket but was unable to do this safely for the red wire. However there seem to be joins in the red cable just up from the socket so I exposed one of these and...

    Battery charging problem

Many thanks to Dv8eh and Nealh for their help in trying to solve my problem. I have now managed to measure the suggested voltages and hope that they make sense as there was very little exposed wire to work on The results were 3.94 7.86 11.83 15.78 19.69 1 1 1 1 1 Red I look forward to your...

    Battery charging problem

I have now opened the "charging" end of the battery and can see no sign of anything looking like a fuse. It all looks a bit complex/delicate in there so I am not keen to dismantle any further at the moment I have included a photo of the opened battery end and also a couple of the overall battery.

    Battery charging problem

Thanks for all your suggestions. So far I have checked the only fuse I can see on the battery end. This is a 30 amp one and it looks intact. Is there another one I should look at?

    Battery charging problem

My almost 3 year old, 36 volt pannier rack battery (Cyclotricity) has just developed a problem. It is partially discharged (measured voltage 39.2) but will not accept a charge - The charger light stays green when connected. The measured charger voltage was 41.8 I hope that someone can explain...

    Battery problem

Thanks for the rapid responses. Would the charging fuse be inside the battery ? I see that there is a 30 amp blade type fuse on the outside near the power connection to the bike. I don't understand the term balance charged. My thought was that the transport halfway across England had been...
