I don`t know how feasible/useful this would be.But how about refilling them with thicker oil or grease. Derek

Yep your right the spinning action of the commutator helps to polish the carbon brush. Also it has a much larger contact area than a switch contact. But they still can have problems, Hoover and Hotpoint introduced laminated carbon brushes on there washing machines to stop them burning up...

Dont know if this has changed but in my Sprint manual they mention 700c/19 inch frame version of a Sprint coming in the near future. Just to confuse things.

Yep think I will change the pedals just so I can stop looking foolish at traffic lights. Where you raise a foot and push down expecting a pedal and instead stamp down on fresh air.:rolleyes:

Thanks for the reply Flecc, I was hoping that from the charge time I could get an indicator of how deep I was discharging the battery with the terrain/distance I`m covering, so I could avoid deep discharging it.

I`ve been Commuting to work with my new Sprint for two weeks now. :D And was wondering if a charge time of 2 hours to the full light coming on, would be a good indicator of battery usage.With this example being under half ? Derek

This reminds me of an old Philips washing machine pulley although it worked in a totally different way. It used large steel balls inside a `V` pulley and as it turned faster the balls pushed outward causing the pulley to close, so the belt was forced to run further out so changing the gear...
