Bosch CX - is it possible to reduce pedeling resistance with aftermarket mods

Either way it's not due until 2020 plus bikes will take a while to filter through the channels.

Bosch CX - is it possible to reduce pedeling resistance with aftermarket mods

Hello, looks like there is a 2020 update planned for the CX motor that will reduce friction at cut-off (using a freewheel to decouple the motor from the gearbox). It also appears to use a "normal" size front chainring. Obviously nobody (other than press) have tried it yet so it's hard to say if...

Bosch CX - is it possible to reduce pedeling resistance with aftermarket mods

Hi, For those who have been inside the Bosch CX motors or know about how they work in a bit of detail... Is it technically possible to reduce the pedeling resistance from the system by replacing any of ther internal components (gears, bearings, etc) to reduce the losses in the system? Is that...

Failure of Bosch Performance Line Motor ??

Worth letting you bike shop deal with this. Yes there are faults with these motors but they are much fewer than the reports would have you believe. Apprecaite that you are a bit nervous but a few shorter journeys first will let you know if it's a bigger problem or just loose wiring or...

Failure of Bosch Performance Line Motor ??

Sounds like a break/loose wire rather than a motor fault. Or a loose plug.

    Bosch Cx motor noise

Bearing Man, don't give up you are one of the good guys doing the right thing. However a small suggestion is that rather than sell the Bosch stuff just sell generic silicon grease for a slight markup to cover your costs (ie don't make a loss on it). This way we can support you but not have the...

    Bosch Cx motor noise

What is the grease in the official Bosch kit? "Ebike Drive Unit Grease" it says on the the tube. Is it really just regular silicon grease?

Bosch CX Failure - Early Symptoms

Bearing Man - thank you for you videos - very helpful and explains (I think) many of the issue people have with CX motors going wrong. I expect I will be in touch in approx 18 months when my Bosch warranty runs out! If it goes wrong in the warranty period I can undertand why Bosch just replace...

    Extra Battery Dilemma.

I know ... I know... ;) Always wanted a camper van but always thought they go hand in hand with an external petrol generator - something like a Honda EU10i. Honda seem to make a good motor so always though they would be handy to have if touring.

    Extra Battery Dilemma.

Yoda says ... "Hmmm, think outside the box, you must" Get a 4 amp charger then after a hard days riding pop into a local pub or restaurant and ask them to charge it up for you whilst you relax (only costs them 30 pence). Just leave enough time for a few beers or pudding and pick it up again...

Bosch Performance line CX - Upgrade Speedbox 2 - Can't get Crank off

Please be careful before just becoming frustrated and screwing it down further. I tried to do this using Park Tool CWP-7 and only after getting it jammed and then struggling to get it removed did I notice that the top of the puller came away and flipped over to provide a wider "pusher". As the...

    Purchased a 2018 Cube Reaction Race 500

New 2019 models are out ... doesn't look like much has changed: https://www.cube.eu/uk/2019/e-bikes/mountainbike/hardtail/reaction/ Bit more integrated for some of the models. Hmmm... not sure I'd like a powertube battery and would still rather stick with the sleakly integrated standard one...

Recommend a tiny pump with gauge?

I have that Leyzne it is pretty good though due to it's small size I keep it for emergency use only and use this which is a great pump and gets most of the use: https://www.topeak.com/global/de/products/floor-pumps/221-joeblow--sport-ii The small pump is very light and takes up no real space...

Recommend a tiny pump with gauge?

https://www.lezyne.com/product-hpumps-hp-gaugedrivehp.php Best one I could find that's small, reasonably well built and includes a guage up to 100 PSI.

Suggestions for a set of panniers

Highly recommend these - supposed to be for the front but I put them on the back: https://www.ortlieb.com/en/Sport-Roller%20City/ Completely waterproof and well worth the money.

    Bosch chargers

Not sure 100% about powertube (assuming same connector?) but "fast charge" (4Amp) chargers are available from a number of suppliers: https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/bosch-charger-active-performance-europe-218685 I'd strongly recommend investing in a genuine Bosch one rather than a 3rd...

Tyres Suggestion for Cube Race Reaction 500 2018

Ordered these: https://www.e-biketires.com/en/e-bike-reader/marathon-plus-mtb.html went for the 2.25 width rather than the 2.1 as the current 2.6 wide Smart Sams are nice, just not particulary puncture proof. Will see how things go when they arrive.

Tyres Suggestion for Cube Race Reaction 500 2018

Many thanks will check the links! What would folk recommend - the Smart Sams or the Marathon Plus? As using mainly for communting was leaning towards the Marathon Plus for additional pucture protecting through the cold winter days. Does this sound wise? Any issues fitting a 29 x 2.25 tyre on a...

Tyres Suggestion for Cube Race Reaction 500 2018

Thanks! Problem is Smart Sam Plus (better protection) and Marathon Plus show on Swalbe website as being available in 29 x 2.25 but I can't find anybody who stocks them. https://www.schwalbe.com/en-GB/offroad-reader/smart-sam-plus.html...

Tyres Suggestion for Cube Race Reaction 500 2018

Hmmm .... nobody know where I can get 2.4-2.6 tyres to replace those on the Cube? Everybody with a Race Reaction sticking with the supplied tyres?
