    E-Bike Indicators

I have a right hand winkku and I'm very pleased with it. The switch is a little sensitive though, I've been known to switch it on or off accidentally when wearing gloves. I'd definitely reccommend it though. The lights on it are good as well, combined with my front and rear flashing leds, and...

Oh No not another helmet thread....

I totally agree with that, which is why I didn't contribute to any of the previous threads on helmet wearing. And I think you're right about public perception not being based on rational analysis. I just wish I could alter it!

Oh No not another helmet thread....

Thanks for that Nick. For me, there's no question about helmets, I just don't wear one but I do think it's a bit unfair to be considered irresponsible for that reason. Is this really the public perception now?

Oh No not another helmet thread....

Sorry to drag this up again but a few moments ago I was listening to the PM programme on radio 4, and the presenter, Carolyn Quinn, was interviewing someone about Natasha Richardson's skiing accident. She was suggesting that helmets might be made compulsory for skiing, making the point that...

Cheers Flecc. Got it now. Not sure about the boyband connection though...... But I did have a look at previous posts - hilarious! Well worth a look.

    Glad to see

Totally bizarre. Now I've got to look through the entire list of members to see if there are any boyband type names!

    Shimanos

My first bike had Sturmey Archer gears. I was reminded of them the other day when my new 18 tooth sprocket arrived from 50 cycles- it was made by Sturmey Archer. They have a fascinating historical section on their website: Sturmey Archer

Totally OT - Biker jailed for doing 122mph

There seems to be a bit of road rage creeping in here and there on this thread, and I'm sorry to see that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine is that for me, 120mph would never be safe under any circumstances because I wouldn't be confident to drive at that speed, whatever the road...

Done it for the first time....but...

Halfords advised me not to bother with those self sealing tubes- slime tubes, I think they're called- as most punctures are caused by thorns and there's usually more than one, in which case they very often won't work.

Got Road Raged - Advice needed.

I think you're absolutely right Caph. I shouted at a couple walking on the cycle track a few weeks ago, they didn't hear me coming - that Agattu bell! - and I still feel bad about it. Now I just smile at everybody. Life's too short for aggro, justified or not.

    Forum clock awry?

On the same subject, if it says, say, 10 members and 14 guests, then counting the list of members online always comes to nine- one less than the number shown. The one missing isn't me because on my screen I am always first. So who is the mystery extra member? Is it Flecc? I've never seen his...

    Poor Excuse

My reasons for having an electric bike are similar to Patrick's- using that time spent getting to and from work for something useful ie exercise, therefore getting fit, and saving money at the same time! My work is 17 miles away so out of the question for a 50+ like me on an ordinary bike. I've...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

Going back to the original topic regarding Northern Ireland, I got some info from a relative who was until recently a big shot in central government information services. The Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995 (No. 2994 (N.I. 18)) - Statute Law Database The Road Traffic (Northern...
