I totally agree with that, which is why I didn't contribute to any of the previous threads on helmet wearing. And I think you're right about public perception not being based on rational analysis. I just wish I could alter it!

Thanks for that Nick. For me, there's no question about helmets, I just don't wear one but I do think it's a bit unfair to be considered irresponsible for that reason. Is this really the public perception now?

Halfords advised me not to bother with those self sealing tubes- slime tubes, I think they're called- as most punctures are caused by thorns and there's usually more than one, in which case they very often won't work.

I think you're absolutely right Caph. I shouted at a couple walking on the cycle track a few weeks ago, they didn't hear me coming - that Agattu bell! - and I still feel bad about it. Now I just smile at everybody. Life's too short for aggro, justified or not.

I find that clicking on New Posts keeps them off the screen, so they're not a nuisance....
