Fuse before or after on/off switch?

Just to be sure...you suggest to have the "discharge" fuse between the battery and the switch?

Fuse before or after on/off switch?

Hi everyone, as I'm trying to put my new 10s4p pack of 18650 in the same solid box of my bike, I'm adapting the connections to the previous ones. You'll find the attachment picture where I outlined all the connections (batteries, bms, etc.) My only double at the moment is about where to have...

    Capacitor in a battery?

Hi everyone, my project of rebuilding a battery for my Volt Savile continues and it's almost finished, I have almost everything cleared but I have a question. When I dismantled the previous one, made with flat grey cells (sorry but I forgot the name) I found, with all the other cable I cut, a...

    10s4p welding layout

Yep, as I said in the original post, the drawing doesn't represent the parallels :) Can you please draw me something about your configuration idea? I can't get the flat after the diamond. I'm asking because the only other idea i was able to come with was the all flat plus one diamond but this...

    10s4p welding layout

Hi everyone, what do you think of this layout for the nickel strips? If I want to try to put the new batteries inside the original box of my bike, this is the only layout I can fit 40 batteries...so I was thinking this is also the best possible welding scheme. Is there any better scheme you...

Choosing a BMS for self made battery

Other than the one on Vruzend, I can't find another BMS with pads for a switch :-(

Choosing a BMS for self made battery

Thanks everyone. In the end I decided to pursue the spot welding way, with a twist over an Arduino controlled spot welder, powered by a LiPo battery. Of course the whole project now is more interesting, even if less financially effective...but what the heck! :) I'll keep this post updated with...

Choosing a BMS for self made battery

Unfortunately my crappy controller has no indication of its amps rating. I'm attaching the picture I have of it, there's nothing else but those digits, that return nothing specific on the internet. Would you go for 20 or 30 amps BMS?

Choosing a BMS for self made battery

That's great. At least this part I understood it well :-) I respect a more informed opinion, I'm here for that...but...the latest model of Vruzend, they advertise it as rated for 20A per cell/cap. Does this address your concern? I'm very undecided between caps and spot welder, the cost...

Choosing a BMS for self made battery

Hi everyone, while studying the theory of self-building a battery pack, there's one thing not clear to me, coming from some ignorance about electricity: what should be the Amp value for choosing a BMS? I'd like to do my first build with a Vruzend kit, not wanting to go straight away into a spot...

Battery replacement for Volt Savile - options/ideas?

Yep, these are pics from both ends

Battery replacement for Volt Savile - options/ideas?

They seem to be square cells filling the whole space, fitted with some foamy double sided tape. How safe is it to push/pull them out? Still Li-Po cells :)

Battery replacement for Volt Savile - options/ideas?

Thanks for the answer...I'll totally study all options here. One side question...I'd like to be sure it IS the battery before buying a new one. Of course it's the most probable option but I'd like to investigate...and, forgive my ignorance in terms of electrical measure units...would it be...

Battery replacement for Volt Savile - options/ideas?

Ciao everyone, while using very happily my Brompton (non electric) for commuting home-train-office, I decided to use again for some leisure the Volt Savile I was neglecting since some time. I charged the battery, unused for months and months, maybe a year, and yesterday it went down, shutting...

Something small for the London Overground

Thanks to everyone for the answers. In short: I'm thinking electric because I REALLY sweat under physical activity I don't have a budget in mind but for the little use I'd make I wasn't even dreaming of the insane ranges of a Brompton electric :-) let's say something under £1000 (and it's...

Something small for the London Overground

Hi everyone, with my new job I have to do a weird commuting bus+train+bus. It's not completely bad but the two bus bits can be a huge waste of time. The distance from home to the Overground station is around 3km, then the distance from the arriving station to the office is around 4km. I have a...

Volt Savile - some things I know and some questions

No luck apart from the wheel size menu. The power button seems to be useful only to turn on and off. No interactions in combo with other keys or menu. From the default screen i can reach wheel size menu with SET+ but also with SET- Holding + AND - together: no effect Holding + OR - together...

Volt Savile - some things I know and some questions

Great, thanks. In my understanding the self-learning was some process that drove the "AUTO" setting of the assisted pedal. I mean, on the display unit I can select 1 to 6 bars/levels of speed as long as I pedal, right? What the "AUTO" does exactly is still a bit of a mystery to me. I wanted...

Volt Savile - some things I know and some questions

Hi everyone, I'll start this thread to collect all the info about my Volt Savile, to share the few things I learned so far (I'm not an expert of bikes nor ebikes) about this specific model (in the absolute silence of the manufacturer), and mostly to ask questions to people more expert than me...
