Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Sorry to take so long but I have been on holiday. service.endkunden@derby-cycle.com My dealer claims there is nothing wrong with my third motor yet it's still as noisy as the second. His mechanic, who has his own business, assisting my dealer who doesn't do maintenance, despite Kalkhoff...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Am now on my third Impulse motor, on Kalkhoff Premium Include. It is now just as noisy as the second, when ascending hills. It has also lost power, with the ‘waiting for drive ‘ message and switched itself off. Enough Is enough and I will switch to a Bosch motor. All other aspects of my bike...

    New kalkhoff integral..?..oh dear

I have a Kalkhoff which is on its third motor, which is just as noisy as the second and has taken to switching itself off. It sounds like the hub is filled with shingle! I am looking for a refund, to switch to Bosch, as it clearly isn’t fit for purpose.

    Huge increase in UK e-bikes

I have a Kalkhoff and am now on its third motor, whilst still under warranty. It has the Impulse which is very noisy going up hills and switches itself off. Which Kalkhoff’s have the Bosch motor?

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

I am told by Kundenservice Derby Cycles in Germany, that the New Generation impulse motor is noisy and they are trying to fix this. As I have just had surgery I am not in a tearing hurry to get my bike back, which is just as well!

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Warranty issue is confusing. First motor failed after four months, but a fix and software update were recommended, so motor wasn’t replaced until 11 months. 2nd motor has only been on bike for two months. I believe motors have a two year warranty. Ironically, my wife has just bought a Raleigh...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

A quick update, I recorded the clicking noise on my iPhone, but can’t work out how to paste it onto here. Retailer’s third party mechanic is currently testing the bike and will report to retailer, who will then consult with Kalkhoff as to what happens next. If it’s another new motor, I’m...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Bought it a year ago, fault first reported in autumn, but motor not replaced until May this year. 2nd motor very noisy on long run yesterday, but much quieter on short run today, so I’ll keep monitoring, as they will nay diagnose a problem if I can show there is one.

Jurassic of Weymouth. I believe he outsources all maintenance.

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Unfortunately my dealer doesn’t do servicing, sourcing it out and doesn’t offer much advice, so it is a problem. At least the motor is under warranty, but if it does need to be replaced, at what point is the bike not of a satisfactory quality, to seek a refund. Moral to be learned from this...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

I have a 2017 Kalkhoff Include Premium. I do a lot of miles and it’s a great help on locally steep hills. Initially I expreienced poblems where the motor cut out and a message, “waiting for drive” was displayed. I had to back pedal or disconnect the battery to solve this. Dealer suggested...

    Gates Carbon Drive problems

About 3-4cm, but it was like this following the service, so if this is too much, then I’ll have even less confidence in dealer. I did notice it had more play than prior to the service, but as the mechanic wasn’t present when I collected the bike, I couldn’t check. I also hope that no damage has...

    Gates Carbon Drive problems

Thanks for the advice. The problem I have with my dealer is that he sub-contracts his maintenance so I have to wait until mechanic is available, but I have contacted him. In the meantime I can’t trust the bike. I have advised my dealer that as this issue is the second breakdown in 6 months...

    Gates Carbon Drive problems

I have a Kalkhoff Premium Include, with carbon drive belt instead of traditional chain. I bought it new last summer. I have had two major issues. The first where the power failed, leaving me to walk up hills, this seems to fixed with a software update. Whilst riding on Bournemouth Promenade...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

Thanks everyone for your input. I am keen to understand my Kalkhoff, as when I bought it I had to set it up myself and don't understand many of the settings. I have contacted 50 Cycles for their advice, which I am willing to pay for, as they seem very knowledgable and competent. I love my bike...

Anyone Fancying a PUNT on the new Impulse Evo bike in 2016

I have a 3 month old Kalkhoff Premium Include, which I believe has a 3.0 motor. I have loved it until it developed a fault, where the drive fails and I get error message, 'wait for drive'. The bike also occasionally makes banging noises when putting effort into pedalling. My dealer tells me...

    Have Kalkhoff Include

I have told them and they are ordering a 'service module', but I feel concerned as I did a lot of research and was set on a Bosch, until Jurassic persuaded me that all the bikes they use for tours have these Evo motors and were so reliable. They're on holiday for a week, so I guess I'll have to...

    Have Kalkhoff Include

Hi everyone, 3 months ago I bought a Kalkhoff Premium Include, with Evo motor and Impulse battery. I did a fair bit of research before buying from a local dealer Jurassic Bikes, of Weymouth. Unfortunately, although they run ebike tours, they don't do their own maintenance, instead subbing it...
