I've just purchased a false crossbar from MaxxRaxx, which has a maximum load weight of 25kg - one of the highest I could find. It's called the AUX X-Bar and is priced at £21.50. I am impressed with the build quality and ease of use, together with how quickly I received it after ordering by phone.

I ride a Carrera Crossfire ebike which has a USB power output on the Suntour Head Unit. I plan to connect my iPhone to the unit whilst using the Komoot app to follow a pre-planned route. Will this cause any significant drain to the bike’s battery?

OK. So it sounds as if a reasonable modification has been carried out and that the battery is safe to use in its present form and that the 36v reading indicates a reasonably powerful battery. Thanks to all of you for your advice and guidance.

P.S. Finally managed to remove the whole battery array from the case and add the following photos

Finally released from domestic duties and managed to open the battery case, and source an avo. The avo gives a voltage reading of 36V. Attached is a photo of the interior of the battery. I have no idea of the relevance or otherwise of the following, but I can see that between the 5th and 6th...
