I had the same and it was the pedal bearings packing up. I removed the pedal and lubed it up with 3-1 oil to see if any difference. It stopped clicking for a while so in the end it was the pedal.

Another thought here. Would a normal chain be suffice to take the loads of an electric bike? Good club cyclist can exert good power, pro cyclists can exert 500w when pumping hard.

Updat for anyone who’s interested. I returned it for a diagnostic., there were no faults but he replaced the display battery and said that was the problem. I’m not convinced but willkeep an eye on it.

I’ll take it back to the shop where I bought it. When it’s sorted I’ll post what the fix was.

yes it does but the time reinstates each time after shut down, which I believe is a good indicator of display battery problems. Everything else is fine just the odometer totals up erratically

I’m happy it being as it is. I can look around unlike when on a motorbike or car. if the government did raise the speed so would tax, insurance and proper heavy helmets would come with it.
