Sturmey-Archer 3 speed Hub gears for crank drive Bafang

Hello all, I have a Halford's Carrera bike that I converted with a Bafang BBS02 crank drive. I am reasonably happy with it except for the gears which I just can't get adjusted right. I have obviously removed the front 3 chain rings but left the rear 8 speed cassette, but they gears are noisy...

    Help! Battery and motor compatibility

Hi there, yet another simple question, for you, but not me! Can I run my 36V 500W BBS02 from a 48 Volt battery, or will it just fry something? By battery is getting a bit old and I have been offered a nearly new one from a friend, very cheaply. Thanks Peter

BBS02 (Old Type Controller) broken, wiring help.

Been a member of this forum since 2009 and got fantastic help on here which helped me get started in ebiking. I remember especially a chap called Flecc, who seemed to know absolutely everything and answered every question going, don't know whether he is still around. I have followed the forum...

Calling all Wooshers and kalkhoffers! and anyone else...

Hello to all. I joined this forum in 2008 when I first got interested in e-bikes. I had great help on here, but in spite of that I still bought an Alien Ocean! I was amazed by the whole subject about which I knew zero, but the depth of expertise of the members on here and their generosity in...

Does anyone have any experience of one of these? Zoom Heads-Up Stem Extender Clamp-On Steerer or these Heads-Up Et 1" 1/8 Ahead Stem Extender I can't find much advice on using these and what there is seems to be polarised, either 'OK', or 'Dangerous' I want some extra height to lift my...

    kenda Tyres

I have Kenda tyres on my new bike and but for reading some negative comments on this forum a little while ago wouldn't have any doubts about them. I think the issues were bursting side walls and puncture resistance. Was it ever bottomed, was it a bad batch, or are they just rubbish tyres that...

    Alien - Additional Pedelec Modes

I think some bikes have a sort of mode switching for the pedelic switching between high and low, or high, medium and low etc. I recently tried a bike that had this and it really suited my riding style. The Alien does not have this. I presume that this must be a function that is built into...

    Beware the Chinese Box

Those with brains the size of a melon have plenty of complicated topics on the forum to peruse at the moment, so this one is for the rest of us............. Should those of you who have or might buy a bike from an online seller, have the misfortune to have to send it back to the seller for...

Easy fit inner tubes - Again

These tubes, which are sausage shaped instead of a hoop, were mentioned in a thread the other day. Having just had a horrible experience of sorting out a shredded inner tube on a rear wheel hub motor, I was very interested in them. I searched back in the Forum and strangely, although the...

Rear Wheel removal a big problem

After days of rain I finally got to ride my new Synergie Mistral this morning. just 2.5 miles away from home the rear inner tube burst with a bang that you usually get if you have twisted the tube when installing. So 2.5 mile walk back, by which time it had started to rain, so, not too happy...

    Handlebar Height

On my just acquired bike, a Synergie Mistral, I need to raise the saddle substantially to get a good position so I can pedal reasonably efficiently without ruining my knees. The problem is that on these new-fangled (to me) fixed headsets there is no means of adjustment and the result is a...

    Phylion battery and charger.

Just taken delivery today of a new Synergie Mistral. ( I will post re experience later) While I was putting it together I put the battery on to charge. After an hour I used the charge check button on top of the battery and Nothing lit up. I put the battery on the bike and power meter showed all...

    Synergie Mistral

Well I finally managed to decide on which bike to get and ordered a Synergie Mistral yesterday so should come in the next couple of days. As a matter of interest it came down to a choice between this and the Alien special and the Synergie won out in part because the battery position allows a...

    Attention all Commuters

I just want to say well done to all of you. Earlier on this morning I was sat looking out of my window at the downpour and thinking "I can't be bothered to go for a ride" Then about 20 minutes ago it started to brighten up and I am thinking I will go out on the bike. Now being retired, I have...

    Juicy Sport

Just been looking at the Juicy Sport. Juicy Bike Sport: electric hybrid cycle A search on here hasn't really turned up anything, anyone have any comments? The frame seems to look similar to a well known and much more expensive machine.

Are front hub motors inherently unsafe?

Apologies if this has already been covered but I happened across this in a thread on Endless Sphere Anyone have a view on this? Is it really only relevant to the US where higher power motors are used? Pete

Alien Gents Special and Synergie Mistral

These are almost identically priced and seem to live next door to each other and I wondered if anyone had a view on how they stack up against each other. With my very limited knowledge the Alien seems to have a better motor, 250Watt and Brushless but an identical battery - in practice does this...
