I’ve got an SP12 from the supplier mentioned by @sjpt It’s transformed my bike, I can comfortably achieve 30 mile rides now.

In essence AliExpress was generally cheaper than eBay but goods took longer to arrive. Now the prices are loaded with VAT and/or Customs Duty its no longer a cheaper alternative.

Do you have a cassette? Have you pulled the derailleur right back? Does your derailleur have a clutch that needs releasing? give us more info and I’m sure help is imminent!

I covered 1000 miles on mine when the chain started jumping in the 11t cog. I was advised to get a new chain and cassette. For the sake of £4 from AliExpress i bought a new Shimano 11t cog and rverything was good again. Although I know I’ll have to replace the chain (and probably the cassette)...

Back to the OP. My observations are that it tends to be your lycra lout type who wears all black, you know the ones, they ride in packs, 2 or 3 abreast. Not long ago these guys were done up like power rangers. So it must be a fashion thing !

I’m 6’1” and nigh on 20st. Ive got a Decathlon Rockrider E-ST900. Size ‘L’. I could even get away with an ‘M’. Don't get an XL unless you’re over 6’4” or have seen the bike in the flesh!

Has anyone tried to source goods from Germany? Sellers are either refusing go to ship to the UK or, postage rates are prohibitive!

@PC2017 sorry, all packaging binned. It was a large sticker on the back, stipulating description of contents and value. Not too dissimilar to what it used to be pre-brexit!

Bought 2 items from AliExpress this month. Both less than a tenner, and both attracted an extra 20% vat at check-out! Both have arrived OK.

Decathlon do 27.5+ (2.5” - 3.0”) innertubes for £2.99.

Reads like an easy touch for a scaremonger!

I’m sure that anyone that considers insuring an ebike is primarily concerned with it being stolen. Other cover is merely arbitary!

If you have a home, surely you have home insurance which include public liability! unless of course you sell bike insurance. ;-)

I’ve covered 227 miles on it so far. A few hills, pinewood forest paths. Bridleways, cycle paths and the beach. No proper trails yet as I’ve none near by! the bike works perfectly. Ive not had to adjust anything and love the riding position. I am, however, still trying to come to terms with...

I contacted my home insurer and got my ebike as a named item on my policy. All risks home or away. Provided its not altered from manufacturers spec (derestricted!) and it’s not left in or on an unattended vehicle! It was an extra £13 for a £1700 bike. All specialist cycle insurers I checked...

@Pajomota, I too have just bought an E-ST 900. Any tips or tricks you recommend during your 10 months ownership?

Update.......couldn’t find my first choice so ended up ordering a Rockrider E-ST 900 from Decathlon as they came back into stock. Im getting all excited now and cant wait for delivery on 25th. Just insured it for all risks on my home contents policy for £13, so happy with that.
