I finally got round to testing the bike with the new settings and all now looks and feels good! Thanks for all your help in sorting this. Its much appreciated.

I checked the settings again and in addition to changing the P1 to 46, I also changed the C1 setting to 1 as I have an 8 magnet PAS sensor. This seems to have done the trick regarding the indicated speed and now the motor doesn't seem to give intermittent cut out regardless of battery...
