e-Bike on a bike rack. With or without the battery?

We're having a towbar installed on our car so we can haul our bikes. When we're ready to take a trip I thought I'd remove the batteries to make them a bit lighter but then I thought about the exposed battery compartment and the damage rain could do. What do you folks do? Remove the battery or...

    Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tyres

We're really enjoying our new Focus Planet 2 e-Bikes. They came with Schwalbe Energizer Active Plus P-Guard tyres and so far we haven't suffered any flats however I'm thinking about upgrading to maybe their Marathon Plus Tour. They seem like a better all round tyre good for asphalt, light gravel...

What's a good concentrated chain cleaner like Simple Green?

I'll be buying a Parker chain cleaning tool and wanted to use Simple Green concentrate but I'm finding out it isn't available over here. Well, it is but it's very expensive. Any biodegradable alternative that I could dilute with water? Are those citrus cleaners any good? Many thanks. edit: I...

Do they make removable water bottle cages?

If I mount the cage to my Focus Planet 2 I can't get the battery out. I don't understand what they expected folks to do. Are there cages that attach to a mounted bracket and can be easily removed? I've looked around but don't see any. Here's a photo showing where the the cage mounts. Many thanks.

    Paulchen e-bike carrier

Has anybody used one of these carriers? I'm exploring all the options so we can carry two e-bikes. The Paulchen system seems reasonable price wise and they make a model for our car. Although both our bikes would be under their weight limit the thought of the rack strapped to the back hatch...

Thought I'd become familiar with the tyres on our new Focus Planet e-bikes. Man, what a minefield.

Our bikes came with the 47-622 Schwalbe Energizer Active Plus tyres. Trying to decipher the sizes is very confusing. There's ISO, American, Imperial Metric and who knows what else. I guess a lot of dealers use Imperial Metric which would be 700×47C for our 47-622(I think). Someday I'll have...

Tow hitch and then a bike rack for a 2017 Toyota Auris Hybrid

We just got our Focus Planet e-Bikes and have started thinking about a bike rack. The first thing would be a tow bar and I see they're available but they all say, "not for hybrid". We're not towing anything so that wouldn't apply right? Many thanks.

Distance between the tip of the front tire to the tip of the rear tire?

Reason I'm asking is at some point we might want a bike rack for our car and some of the country lanes here in Somerset are a bit narrow. If the bikes stick out too far beyond the sides of the car there could be a problem. I realize all bikes aren't the same but what would something like a Cube...

Selecting the eBike you want is one thing, finding it in stock is quite another.

I'm finding that not much is in stock anywhere. I visited several local shops in and around Frome, Somerset and couldn't find what we're looking for. Now I'm thinking a trip to Bristol is our next step. We're looking for a Cube Reaction Hybrid or Scott Sub Cross eRide in men's and women's...

This seems to be an active and very helpful forum. Anybody's forum replies going straight to spam?

I posted about equipment and received all kinds of advice that opened up possibilities I didn't or hadn't considered. I do have an issue about replies from the forum going to my spam folder. I'm using Gmail and have told Google several times that they aren't spam but they still go to spam. The...

What else are we going to need?

I think we've narrowed down our choice to two Cube reaction hybrid pro allroad, his and hers. When we make the buy what else should we think about? I mean obviously a helmet, maybe gloves but are there other essentials we should consider? My thinking is we start with the basics and buy stuff...

We know the EBikes we want but they are nowhere to be found

Wife and I are in our 70s and looking for a couple of EBikes with the capability of some gentle off roading. We're in Somerset and after looking online and visiting our local bike shop we've found that they're are hugely popular and tough to come by. We want a mid-drive motor like a Bosch...
