    Kalkhoff unreliability

I agree, or probably buy a second hand one with the excellent Panasonic motor! I’ve had mine for 10 years, regularly commuting in all weathers covering in excess of 20,000 miles, battery still at 80% capacity only regular servicing, chain, sprockets etc., and not a thing gone wrong . What has...

    Bosch Dongle for 20 Pence

It was Schematics for the bike control system I was referring to, someone must have them! I find it quicker to lash up with bits I have but will refine it to micro controller once I know what is needed. and hopefully power from existing wiring to sensor, hall effect I imagine, but who knows?

    Bosch Dongle for 20 Pence

I designed and tested (bench) a system to do this as I was thinking of speed extension of a Kalkhoff Impulse. This could be improved with a pic and refinement but was essentially a 556 dual timer using a re triggerable timer with pulse width set to just under cut off speed say 14 mph, triggering...

    Kalkhoff Endeavour BS10 400Wh

My 250w Panasonic powered kalkhoff appeared to be more powerfull and sporty than my neigbours German visitors 350 watt Bosch powered Riese-und-muller, that was his opinion too. My non assisted sports cycle is faster in every respect than my electric bike, and quicker on my commute. I just...

    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

Hi Alex, What range do you comfortably get from your Kalkhoff? I have a hilly commute and use a Panasonic powered Kalkhoff, which is fine for my needs but I charge at both ends of my journey. 33 mile round trip with around 1200ft of climb on the whole journey. There is a guy who has the 350w...

    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

Hi Tim, I have ridden an ebike with a manual NuVinci and I must say it is very easy to change with no effort at all. I am keen to try a nuvinci powered Kalkhoff, but tell me can you override the heart monitor thing. I really don't feel I would like this feature. I would like the constant...

    Panasonic Center motor parts Kalkhoff

Can anyone advise a stockist of parts for the Panasonic crank Drive motor system. I need a drive gear idler idler assembly for a derailleur gear Kalkhoff Pro connect. 50 Cycles are waiting for delivery, but as I use my bike for daily commuting and have been off road for a few weeks now I think...

Bosch Tuning dongles arrived today - 50kph cut off..

Panasonic dongle sounds interesting, what exactly will it do? will it change phasedown/cut off? I would be interested. What system does the Bosch use for magnetic sensor? Hall effect or reed switch? Do you know if the Kalkhoff impulse will be dongleable? does this use a hall effect sensor or...

    Panasonic drive gear idler question

Thanks Flecc, It was on your Panasonic site I saw the picture of the dual idler, but when I phoned 50 Cycles to purchase one Matt told me that it was only fitted to the hub gear model and he had never seen it on a derailleur model. I was concerned that it would fit and really just want...

    Panasonic drive gear idler question

Thanks Hugh, The cage is tight and I have straightened and aligned it, it is just a tinny thing and with all the power of the motor easily twisted, my worry is that a bad twist at speed may damage the motor casing where it is mounted. I will give the gear oil shot although up to now the only...

    Panasonic drive gear idler question

Thanks NRG, I have a new 11 tooth sprocket, I will try width reduction to see if this helps, as I say only usually a problem when in heavy rain or puddles, I noticed when I first fitted a new chain at 2500 miles, that the front chain wheel had quite severe peening on the bottom of the gullets to...

    Panasonic drive gear idler question

I have had problems with the chain snatching/jumping since the bike was new. Kalkhoff pro connect LX 9 derailleur. Mentioned in other posts over the years, only a problem to me in the rain usually. Recently though it has wrapped the idler assembly and damaged it. I see on Flecc's Panasonic...

    pro connect disc

I have a pro connect with derailleur gears, and have covered some 7,000 miles in the past 2 ½ years. The most frustrating thing about this otherwise near perfect bike is the chain crunching noise from the drive cog/idler whenever the chain is dirty and wet. (sometimes even just water if it is...
