    Hard9 or Hard7

I hired a hard 9 at a local trail centre. It was brilliant and I did 44km offroad including both forestry roads and rough singletrack. When I gave it back it still had about 25% battery left, but I was worn out!

On levels 3 and 4 going uphill is great. I stop again to take in the view of the Jungfrau range at the top end of the valley Pushing on, its not very long before i am nearing Lauterbrunnen. It gets a bit steeper as you approach the village. Using level 4 i catch up and pass 2 mountain...

The run back to Interlaken goes very well. I have lost a couple of blocks off the battery guage at 32.6 miles, but it was really quick about 40 mins for 10 or 11 miles. Back on the bike again and its a couple of miles on the flat to Wilderswill, then that 8 mile uphill drag. At...

After leaving Oberreid its pretty flat with only gentle rises, i continue to use assist levels 1 and 2, taking my time to conserve my energy and battery power. Its not long before i reach Brienz and i can stop right next to the lake and look back. I check the console as this is the...

At Oberreid there is a jetty for the lake's pleasure boats so i am happy to go down the steep hill to check it out knowing that the bike can take the strain on the way back up. There's nobody around to enjoy the awesome scenery so i have the place to myself. Looking back from where...

Right, after about 8 miles of downhill drag you get out of the valley leading to Lauterbrunnen and you reach Wilderswill. This is another tourist hotspot as you can catch another rack railway to the alpine garden at Schynigge Platte. Now the next section is on the flat and its about 2...

Lauterbrunnen station is very popular with tourists from all over the world and the trains run from here on rack systems up to the 11000 foot Jungfrau. So, on with the ride and the next section is a long downhill for about 8 miles. I will continue this a bit later. Chris

I start off with a full battery and head off from the campsite into the village itself. The scenery is breathtaking.

Well if you are like me, you are wondering if you buy an electric bike, how will it perform in the real world. How long really will that battery last, how much will i lose on hills? So i thought i would give an analysis of one of my first rides on my second hand 2 years old Trek 7.3 FX Ride +. I...

Right, had the bike back now from the Bike shed Cardiff. They were the second trek dealership i tried and they did have the relevant diagnostic tools. They installed updated software, the 5.9 version. It cured the problem and the power delivery now seems to be smoother and the bike is running...

Trek bionx ERU 4.1 Is this an error code?

No, not yet its been at a local Trek dealership for a week so far. It seems there are Trek dealers and Trek dealers and you cant tell from trek's website which dealers have experience of or are authorised by Trek to work on their electric bikes. The story i have received so far from the dealer...

Trek bionx ERU 4.1 Is this an error code?

Update Ok thanks for all the info. Have a look at the pics attached of the console display. Does it signify error code 55 which according to NYCE Wheels is "no communication between motor and console"? I have disconnected and re connected the wires but it still does not work. Chris

Trek bionx ERU 4.1 Is this an error code?

Well after 3 years of deliberating I bought a 2010 Trek FX+ second hand on EBay about 3 weeks ago with a new battery. It's now stopped working and the above appears momentarily on the screen when you first turn it on. Any ideas? Chris

Probably will fit an ezee kit. What about torque arms secured by a small bolt on the dropout about an inch away from the axle?

    Difficult Dropouts

I attach 3 pics of the dropouts from my FS bike. Its an all alloy rear triangle with a replaceable hanger, the outside faces are flat but the inside faces have an indentation. I want to fit a rear wheel motor and my question is which kit system with which torque arms would work best with this frame?
