Reliable commuter machine + Sheffield Hills

I second this. I also based in Yorkshire, but a bit further north than the OP. I been riding an Oxygen cycle for a few months now, but visited the SYEB showroom for the first time last week. The team there are very helpful indeed and the new models with integrated batteries have got me...

    Wheel sizes 27.5" what?

One of my rides, an Oxygen MTB, has 27.5" wheels. The size of the wheels had no bearing on my purchase at the time, but it does roll well and is very responsive. I would certainly purchase another 27.5" equipped cycle in the future.

    suspension seat post

I wasn't aware of North Yorkshire Electric Bikes. We have an office in Knaresborough, I'll call in for a gander next time I'm there :)

    This arrived today :)

What does the factory fit seat post have stamped on it? My bike must be a very close relative to yours and the original post is stamped as 30.4mm. I had to buy a longer post to suit my height. I got a cheap 30.4mm but 100mm longer post and all fits well.

    Tyres! Again :)

Same here, I have my Kalkhoff road bike on Schwalbe marathon plus and have never had a puncture. My Oxygen MTB came with Smart Sams on, they ride very well but just wish they were the plus version to get the puncture protection. I'll probably change the rear as that is the real pain whilst out...

    This arrived today :)

Make sure you check the size of the post on your bike. My Oxygen E-Mate 13ah was new in late June, their website specs say the post is 30.8mm, yet my bike came with a 30.4mm post.

Problems with nearly new Oxygen e-mate MTB

Hello again, Firstly, please let me apologise for the disparaging remarks regarding the Oxygen bike. It was the end of long and disappointing day, my frustration really lies with ParcelForce. Any assistance provided by the good people here will be gratefully received. Does anyone know where I...

Problems with nearly new Oxygen e-mate MTB

I’ve been riding my Kalkhoff Endeavour for over a year now, and it’s been great, however I’ve taken a liking to riding some rougher tracks so have been fancying a MTB e-bike. Many people here have commented about the Oxygen e-mate MTB 13Ah being a great machine for the money, so I decided to...

    Oxygen emate 3 months later....

I've just bought one of these, hopefully it'll arrive before the weekend. I already ride a Kalkhoff Endeavour, but I'm starting to ride some routes which are not road bike friendly. Very much looking forward to riding the Oxygen.

    Giant, any info about them?

Sorry, I've edited my post since you replied. It was a Giant 2012 Escape Hybrid 1. Power was very good, until it stopped at 15.5 mph.

    Giant, any info about them?

The modern Giants don't have regen. My previous e-bike was a Giant 2012 Escape Hybrid 1 which looked to have the same big rear hub motor. To be honest it was surprisingly torquey, setting off from the traffic lights in top gear was a hoot! It had better low end power than the BS10 (Bosch 350w)...

Hello Peter, I'm a bit further west over at Selby. Sometimes cycle out your way though. Any excuse for fish and chips at Stuarts :)

    Why so few Ebikes

Also, bringing the thread back on track. I've enjoyed a lovely evening having a ride out tonight, and have seen two more e-bikes. One was a small wheel type with the battery hung off the back of the seat post - I suspect it was from one of the narrow boats moored at Selby basin. The other was a...

    Why so few Ebikes

I sometimes ride up the S&Y path and then cross over to Wheldrake and then head back home through Thorganby and Skipwith. It's difficult not to enjoy a real ale at the Ferry Boat Inn at Thorganby though :) Not tried the Swallow Hall golf club yet though, it would be nice to arrange a meet. I've...

    What's going on with e-cars?

The VW e-up (insert Yorkshire joke here) is available for less than £20K (after government grant) and comes with an 8 year battery warranty. Looks to be a better bet than the Renault or Nissan?

    Why so few Ebikes

Unfortunately I don't get to visit the Acomb office that often, even though it is the closest to home. We have 8 offices across Yorkshire, so I'm usually working somewhere in deepest West Yorkshire. I regularly cycle into central York on a weekend, as the Selby to York cycle path is one of my...
