My alpino has 77 miles on it , speedo has stopped. Checked the rubbishy connectors , seem ok. Any ideas.
The manifold clip has snapped off it's holding bracket , must have happened folding it? Manual as per usual is not that helpful .

Must confess whoever pdi's the bikes woefull. Yes I know I should know better and check everything.

I think I have found what the problem is. The speed sensor is fed back through the hub motor.
Today the bike cutout and I found that the locating washer was loose on the front hub. This caused the cable to twist and cut the motor out. The nut holding this in place was supposed to be torqued to 70nm.
Both sides were loose . As this was a brand new bike 3 weeks ago I assumed it was pdi before delivery.
It also had a plastic cap over the nut which was pushed in place. So was not an obvious check.
This is my wife's bike and I dread to think that the front wheel could have fell off whilst in traffic.
Firstly this nut could not have worked loose , having ridden and worked on bikes this does not happen if tightened correctly.
Seems also quite poor that it only has a nut and locating washer. I assume now that the speed sensor wires have been damaged going into the motor.
As you can imagine a little bit annoyed, 1stly that the bike was delivered in such a poor state and 2ndly that me as a bike mechanic trusted somebody else's pre delivery idleness.
Considering this is a step through tends to be a ladies bike , who do not always have the ability to check the bike over.

Just contact your Wisper dealer I am sure they will rectify the problems under warranty, rather than continue this in the public forum, sometimes these things happen.
You say it was 77 miles before it happened?
In fairness to Wisper they do mention in the manual to run through a check list of the bike before riding it, but I do have sympathy for you for the position you now find yourself in.
I am sure it can be resolved amicably.

Please understand I am not blaming anybody but myself. Wisper are not responsible for what gets delivered.
By the same rule I have not checked my triumph motorbike after it's been to the dealers. Hopefully my front wheel will not fall off next week :)

I haven't heard of motorbike wheels falling off coming out of a dealer but there have been some brake calipers fall off after a short distance. Good luck.

What has got me slightly concerned, is that the front hub does not have a torque arm, Other than the fork washer.
All my other bikes have torque arms and reading some old posts, its quite clear that some have had problems before. I may have to retract my statement that the bike was not pdi. It may just be the fact the motor causes the nuts to work loose . 70nm is a fair oompth and I always thought depending on certain metals , you can over tighten which causes more problems , skinny washers, Ali forks.
Interested if anybody else has had loose nuts :)
Also looking at the kit builds everybody seems to fit a torque arm. Am I wrong?
