Accucell 6 slow charging?

My Accucell 6 is set to charge at 6A but when I start to charge its only putting 2A out.
Its the same whether powered by a 5A mains charger (I realise this would be its maximum from this) or by a fully charged car battery.
Its charging a Multistar 16Ah battery and both discharge and balance leads are connected.
I will be converting a pc power supply in the near future to use but just wondered if I was doing something wrong.
Its set to LiPo and 16Ah and is reading the correct 6s.

I'll wager the issue is your power supply. You cannot expect, for example, a12v 5a psu to charge a 22,2v battery at 6a. You need to consider the voltage as well as amps of psu as the charger can, in effect, convert one to the other

From memory the accucel 6 can take up to 18v psu so to charge a 22.2v at 6a you'd need a 18v 10a psu

I think charging at 6a will significantly reduce life expectancy of the cells . Prob best to keep under 3a if you care about such things !

I did say that in my post above.;)
I have now made a 400W power supply and its still the same BUT I think I may have it sussed.
The battery is currently at 25.12 and will stop at 25.2 so is probably in the low final stage.
I just hope I can get both batterys charged in less than 6 hours when I get round to using them:rolleyes:

Charging at the recommended 1C would be 16A so I figured 6 would be quite ok for long cell life.

It takes between 11 and 17 volts input.
12 volt is recommended so I dont think extra volts will alter the output.
The first battery has now finished and gradually the charger went down to 0.4A so I reckon it must just be because the battery was fairly full.
Hopefully I will get the chance to discharge them on the bike tomorrow(if my Anderson connector turns up) so then I will find out for sure.
