Advantages and disadvantages of e-bikes over conventional bikes?

I'll go along with pretty much what everybody's said so far except for a couple of things.

One is that our Kalkhoff Agattus only cost about £400 each more than our Thorn Sherpas cost us three years ago.

And the other is in regard to handling, both ours step-through frames. They don't handle anywhere near as well as our Sherpas, but we don't expect them to. We bought them for convenience and comfort.

My point is that once you get away from the fundamental pros and cons as listed by flecc, everything else becomes far more a matter of opinion based on personal circumstances and expectations than a matter of fact.

What do you think are the major advantages and disadvantages of e-bikes over conventional bikes? Jack
I have a Foldaway and I think it's brilliant.

Advantages:
1) Travelwise, not a lot of difference for the short trips I do, often take the push-bike instead.
2) Very handy in the car.

Disadvantages:
1) Security is a worry, have to carry a chain and lock cycle to a stand or post even for a short stay.
