well what a crap start to the bank holiday.
Got the bike out yesterday to enjoy the sunshine and bang my chain got stuck somehow and and got stuck in the derailleur and snapped it off.
On the bike is a shimano RD-M675 SLX 10 speed, can't seem to find this model at many places I thinks it's because it's a older model now, Does anyone know if a SLX M7000 10 speed will fit or is there is any other shimano models I can look at?

Thanks for any advice.

Steve.

All ten speed ones will work
I’ve mixed and matched many different types and even speeds over the years
Just get a reasonable quality one they don’t wear out so quickly
Unless they get snapped off of course

id check the mech hanger as well for damage as if it is bent even a tiny bit you will never get the gears to index right.

Got the hanger off today just to make sure it was ok, and I think I'm in luck so just have to wait now for the postman to turn up with my new derailleur.

A slight bend - all but invisible to the naked eye - in the hanger can cause shifting problems.

You may be OK, but if you have trouble indexing the gears with the new derailer it's worth changing the hanger rather than struggling for ages with the existing one.

when you fit the new mech make sure there is some locktight blue on the thread, it might come with some on but might not.

Ok soundwave I have to get a new gear cable so I will pick some up at the same time, I did see there was some on the hanger and the only kind I have is the red one and I'm sure it's from the pound shop

different colors mean different strength red being very strong and would also need heat to remove the bolt so best not use that on a mech.

also b4 you fit the new cable give the cable hose a good blast with some wd40 so it can not get snagged or replace the hole thing if not a pita.
