Not really my cup of tea these but thought i would have a look at it and report back.

The bike is located in the centre of Dewsbury West Yorkshire in a second hand shop called Money Generator.

The man I spoke to was called Nick. He based the low milage on the bikes Halford cycle computer, but the worn out dimples on the pedels surgests it has done quite a few more. The overall condition of the bike was very good but quite a few light rub and scuff marks espcially on the battery which also surgests it had been on and off a few times also the writing on the sadle had worn off.

Most interesting that.

I've e-mailed the seller a few questions in the past two days and he's been most evasive, so I knew there was something to hide.

My first questions were:-

"Bike history and reason for sale please? Battery condition and age? Charger included?"

Resulted in: "the bike has only done 28 miles it has a charger,the battery is perfect condition", which seemed rather evasive.

Never one to give up, I followed up with:-

"So how old is the bike, did you purchase it new, and when, and have you the original bill of sale and guarantee?"

Answered with an even more evasive "this year it cost £1580".

Flecc and others were right to be cautious of the claim to 28 miles only. Even though I'm looking out for a bike, I wouldn't touch this one now because I value honesty too highly.

Very interesting. A bit of googling suggests that it is being sold by a pawn shop. Wonder what that implies about provenance?

Thanks for following this through Andrew, the worn saddle and pedals confirm my suspicions. As I said before, it defies logic that a succession of e-bikes on ebay are bought for well over a thousand pounds, then barely used and only sold after losing value with time.

It is a reasonable price however, but like Davall, I value honesty too much to do any business with the seller.
