id go for the crank motor over a wheel hub any day esp if you want to go off road with it.

Id always go for a crank driven number.

What's the top speed of this do you reckon?

You won't get a sustainable 40 mph out of either the BBS02 or the BBSHD.

A more realistic figure with a 42T front chainring and 11T rear cog is 25 mph for the BBS02 and 30 mph for the BBSHD.

Do these things have the power output stayed on them?

Depends how they're programmed by the vendor.

Don't get bamboozled by power figures. Believe me, a BBS02 48v 25A with factory standard programming is plenty powerful enough ;)

...... but if you're a Gixxer fanatic, then even the BBSHD might not be thrilling enough for you. Maybe a Stealth Bomber is more your cup of tea:

also remember the more top speed you want will drain the battery faster so keep that in mind as you will get less range the faster you go.
