I have just got a displayer 5 led ,battery life display from china with no instructions,it did mention connecting the positive to on off switch and negative to light switch,in the ebay listing,do you think it will work ok connected to just my front light which runs off the battery anyway.

Yes. It needs two wires: One to the battery positive and one to the battery ground. They need to be the right way round. If you wired it directly to the battery, it would be on all the time the battery is on. Many Chinese controllers have a separate battery voltage connector for accessories. Wiring it to the lights is OK, but will give a false reading when the lights are on because as soon as the lights draw some current when switched on, there'll be a voltage drop down the wires. That'll be worse if the wires are thin.

Ok thanks dave,so im thinking positive one to on off key switch, and negative direct to battery then.
