What to do when your chain snaps, you’re 4 miles from work, 3 miles from home with no chainbreaker or quick links ?

Answer , bodge it. In this I took apart my keys and used the split ring (twisted into shape and service with multi tool pliers)

Very impressed. My chain broke today, managed to call wife to collect me. Another time your bodge might be worth a try, hope it never comes to that though. I don't think I will trust quick links again, in future I will rivet my chains together.
