Hello everyone

i just thought to start fixing my ebike..
Iam sorry that i have no more knowledge about e-bike rather than reading parts out or disassemble something in my ebike.

First, before starting iam sending greets from germany ✌✌

The battery is gone after 10years (i guess its from 2010/11)
So i get a new one from batteryempire (EBike17std) and wired it up All is fine, only problem is that i have no option to connect the new battery with the connector from the bike for the Akku indicator - so my display is showing me empty battery all the time.

whatsoever i was anoyed from the noise coming from the front wheel engine..
i took it apart (as i said iam good at that )
And found some bad bearings, i hope that are the cause for the weirdy noises when its spinning..

Can anyone help me finding a kit or a repair kit or bearings for it?
what kind of grease do i need? Inside color from the removed old grease was Red!

Cant wait to drive it again

iam thankfull for any help!
Iam so happy that a forum like this is Existing

Get a magnifying glass and look closely on the bearing faces, there is usually a bearing identifying number on them.
An example 6002rs, 6902rs or 6904rs. Once you have the number they are cheap to buy on ebay.

I can't be 100% but it looks like the small one might read 6001rs, the pic isn't very clear when blown up. The larger one in pic 3 & 5 you have to look very carefully to see if one is marked on it, if not measure the outer, inner diameters and the thickness very carefully with a micrometre and buy one that matches exactly.

I have cleaned the 2 outside bearings and found the numbers! thank you!
Do you know something about the 3 rollers?

Those are the rollers, not bearings. you have a Tongxin motor with a roller reduction system. They're out of production now, so no chance of getting new spares. They're very unreliable motors and they can only run with low power. If it were my bike, I'd replace the motor with an AKM100, also know as the Q100 and QQ100. You can get them from BMSBattery.com, Topbikekit.com and greenbikekit.com.

Check the width because I think there were narrow versions of the Tongxin. If you have 75mm or 85mm, then choose the AKM85.

Your controller is for sensorless motors. These small AKM motors don't always run properly sensorless, so you might have to upgrade your controller at the same time. The one you have is not very good regarding it's control system. a modern one will make your bike much better. we always recommend a sine wave KT controller, which you can also get from those places I mentioned. They have designations like S06S, T06S, etc. You need to choose an LCD to go with them and a speed sensor. The other things are optional.

Also, there's the German Pedelecs forum, where there are some very knowledgeable guys. Maybe somebody there knows where to get spare parts, thoughI wouldn't waste my time repairing it.
Thank you very much!!

No sorry the rollers as vfr has mentioned is form an older design.
An engineering company or small hobby engineer with lathe could machine some up.
Pedelecforum.de is very good so an answer may be froth coming from your side.

Hello, sorry to open this old thread again, but this is literally the only place I found any kind of user info on this bike. I have the same model and wanted replace the motor, but so far I have failed to open the motor hub. After taking off my front wheel and unscrewing the six black screws, I can’t seem to get the aluminum lid (you show in your second picture) off.

How did you do it? I assume it screws off with a specific tool, but not sure if it unscrews counter-clockwise like one would assume. So far I haven’t been able to get any kind of movement in it by using and abusing the tools at my disposal.

Just unscrew the 6 screws, remove any nuts on the axle that side, then tap the axle through from the other side with a soft mallet or hammer and block of wood.

I tried that, as it was often suggested in the disassembly of other hub motors, but this lead to nothing. I tried several times and in the end probably a little bit more forceful than I should have been, but no luck.

I had to reassemble the bike since it’s my main one, but here are some photos.
As you can see in the second photo there’s a clear seam on the side with the screws, but I haven’t been able to get it to budge even a little bit.

@Sunshes was clearly able to get it off, as shown in their second photo. So I’m very eager to know how they did it.

That looks like a Tongxin motor. Sorry to mislead you. I should have read the thread from the top. When you mentioned six screws, I assumed that your motor has a side-plate held on by 6 screws because we don't see your type anymore. I haven't seen one of those in about 10 years.

The side screws off, and you have to use those six screw holes to turn it, like an AKM motor. Let me dig through the archives, as I remember forum member Jerrysimon opened one up. I wonder what he's doing now? Here it is:
(5) Taking a Tongxin motor apart. | Pedelecs - Electric Bike Community

If there's anything wrong with it, like the very common cracked outer ring, you should scrap it and get a modern motor, like AKM100 if you want small and light, otherwise any motor you want. Yours is marked 175 rpm, which is very slow. It might be an idea to tell us about whether you liked the bike as it was or whether you want to improve anything, as you can make an opportunity out of your crisis.

Oh wow, I'm impressed with your archival knowledge!
The linked post perfectly explains how to open up the hub, thanks!
In hindsight though, I'm not sure if I'm willing to build a custom tool to repair what is a very old bike.
Especially since I might also have to find and replace the bearings and freewheel apart from the replacement motor I found here. The motor had been having trouble for a while with high torque situations (starting from standstill in low gear, steep incline, ...) skipping and making this rattling noise until the bike got moving. Since my initial repair attempt and the forceful taps, it seems the motor only degraded further and now gives less support, makes a near constant noise and has difficulty moving backwards.

It's a shame though, because I always liked the bike and the absence of any kind of speed limiting (which is very annoying when your regular speed is 25 km/h). But it's probably time to get a new one with a more easily removable battery to be able to use my outdoor bike storage. I'll go have a dive in the forums for some recommendations on a good repairable (and maybe hackable) e-bike.

Hi Pieje,

I don't know if you are aware, but there is a very good German pedelec forum:

https://www.pedelecforum.de/forum/index.php

But if you want to stay here and ask for recommendations, then you are very welcome.

As you've found out there are some guys here with a lot of knowledge.
