All this talk of battery voltages and ampage has left me totally in the dark. The question that would be worth answering if possible is:
Would a 36 volt battery replacing a 24 volt battery cause problems with the controller and/or the motor (I asume all components are intercompatable within one bike model design) and if it's OK would it improve performance ie Torque?

Don't assume anything ;) It all depends, as explained on some other threads the controller needs to be 36v capable so check with the supplier or manufacturer...you can make an educated guess by looking at the components used inside but it could still go up in smoke! The motor should be OK as long as you don't labour it up hills IE: try to keep above ~7 or 8 MPH otherwise the energy is just converted into heat and not forward motion...

Thanks NRG. I think I'll keep the bike as it is. The bike is a Cyclamatic as supplied by SportsHQ and as such I have little technical backup. It was an economical way into eBiking which has now grown on me. My next bike will be one that is supplied from a closer to home retailer.
